Everyone who likes/follows fruvous, in a sense, is a clique.. I liked Wild Bills post. he said get over it. I just had to say that I got the COOLEST video tape from someone I never met in person before FruCon weekend. I found out that she was a really good/sweet person (and she liked burboun(SP?) sours :)), and I spoke a bit with MC (and was all excited when I recognized her in the IWHO video!) and met a really cool person, Anika, had great conversation about people in general... OH yeah, it was prety cool to actually hang out -non-concert- with Tobey, too.. Anyway.. my point, it's what you make it. I interacted with plenty of nice people, plenty of obsessive people, plenty of odd people.. and enjoyed almost every minute of it (The non-fruhead with the ponytail on top of his head - -smiles to Phil- would be the exception)... If someone is doing something you don't like, tell them about it, or keep it to yourself... Lynne, moving back to NY in 3 months!!! no offense, but I've had enough of Ohio! :) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 01 Mar 2000 21:59:25 -0500 From: Michael Castleman Subject: Re: prom or fruvous?, now how many questions have I posed? People, go read Douglas Adams' _The Hitchikers Guide To The Galaxy_ if you don't already know this. You'll enjoy it, I promise. - -- Michael Castleman, mlc67@columbia.edu +1 (530) 686-8623 (voice mail/fax, 24hrs/day) 1651 Lerner Hall, New York, NY 10027 "The minority is always right." -- Henrik Ibsen ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 1 Mar 2000 20:01:02 -0700 From: Tom Salyers Subject: Re: Guilty Pleasures In article <20000301181521.01200.00001154@ng-fu1.aol.com>, gordonlew@aol.com (Gordon Nash) says... > Ok everyone is talking about the other bands they like. And then there's carrageenan, which is a derivative of Irish moss, used to thicken ice cream, pudding, commercial shakes etc. Gelatin IS a naturally occurring substance in animal bones -- anyone who's made chicken or other non-vegetarian soup stock knows that when the soup chills it "gels" and that's because of the gelatin leached from the bones during the long simmering process. But during the actual commercial gelatin-making process it makes sense that the more cartilaginous, and hence less edible, animal parts are used -- hooves, joints etc. Commercial gelatin is the gel equivalent of hot dogs, I guess. I wanted to respond to this thread, but then I realized that I'm not terribly embarrassed about any bands I enjoy anymore. Several years ago, I was completely embarrassed to admit I loved John Denver, the Eagles, and Styx, however since then, I've met other people who are also formerly-closeted fans (well, except for the Eagles, but I proudly went to their "Hell Freezes Over" concert by myself, and had a great time anyway,) and I realized there really was no need to be embarrassed. So, come out of that closet everybody! Odds are there are others like you out there! Cookie Of course, the exception to my theory is Air Supply. ;-P ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V4 #128 ********************************************
