I absolutely love this show, seen every episode a dozen times, and have started a degrassi jr. high tape for posterity (CBC shows the repeats every weekday at 4 :) I was too young to be part of the target audience when it originally aired, but I watched all the repeats religiously. Now that I am too *old* to be in the target audience, I'm still watching it even more religiously, and have joined the Degrassi Newsgroup :) I can't get enough! I grew up on Degrassi and was pretty much the same age as them throughout. I started with Kids of Degrassi (classic shows), then Jr High, and High. It always amused me because some of the actors on Kids went on to the other shows, but their characters completly changed. That's the CBC for you - always recycling actors. >watching it even more religiously, and have joined the >Degrassi Newsgroup :) I can't get enough! >Let's hear it for cheesy Canadian melodrama!! Hee hee - I managed to catch a "Degrassi reunion" recently on Jonovision (another terrible CBC "talk show" for teens, hosted by Johnathan Torrence of "Street Cents"). It was most amusing. Moxy Fruvous is coming on Sunday Feb 27th. The last time we had them here was opening for the Nields at a smallish club (Club Tavern). Funny thing is more people came to see Moxy than the Nields. Most of the Wisconsin shows over the years have been in Milwaukee. This is nice, nice, nice. Our booking agencies have gotten it right & booked Moxy Fruvous at the wonderful Barrymore theatre. This is the premier venue for bands in Madison. 800 + seats & room for dancing. Best of all for you under agers - it's all ages. 21+ for the good WI beer (& Barrymore logoed cup). But yea, all ages...much better than Martyr's in nearby Chitown. So here's the deal: $13.00 advance tickets, $15.00 at the door. Show starts at 7:30 pm & no opener announced as of yet. My wife Michelle works at the local weekly freepress, Isthmus so she gets all the info fresh. When more details arrive, they will be announced here. Out of towners - Michelle is willing to buy tickets in advance for you. Give her an email at Michelle@isthmus.com. Can't help you with overnight accomodations. We have a house full of cats. I would suggest the Madison International Youth Hostel. It's downtown, about 2 miles from the Barrymore & runs $16.00 a night. I don't have their phone number in front of me. So, come one, come all to the beautiful town of Madison & enjoy a Moxy Fruvous Sunday. Need to eat before the show? Well right next door is Pasquel's Mexi food with California Sized Burritos. Across the street is Monty's 50's diner than focuses on veggie diner food. Anyone for a tempeh BLT? They'll set you up. The sound at the Barrymore is great & it's truly a treat to see Moxy Fruvous headline hear. This is where people like Bruce Cockburn, Pavement, Ray Davies & other luminaries play. It's a good, good, spot. Plus there's parking & no smoking. How far is it to drive? 90 minutes from Milwaukee, 2 1/2 hours from Chicago, Same from Iowa City, 3 hours from Rochester MN, 4 hours from Minneapolis, 3 hours from Peoria & Bloomington/Normal, 4 hours from Champaign. That's it folks. Ok enough of my rambling. Michael ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Merguez@aol.com "Sur le feu dansant des paires de merguez à ciel ouvert. I have a friend who has amazing celebrity radar. With her, I've spotted Charles Nelsen Reilly crossing a street, Shari Belafonte Harper in a shoe store, Wayne Rogers at a Safeway, and (before she died) Gilda Radner stepping off an escalator at the Beverly Center. I would have NEVER recognized those people without her pointing them out. It generally takes more definite interaction for me to recognize people. A couple of examples: 1) I literally ran into Christopher Walkin at a grocery store last year. I was leaving the store and he was entering, and we collided. He's taller than I thought he would be. 2) I was in line to see a concert several years ago, and the line I was in wasn't moving very fast. Frustrated and impatient, I tapped the shoulder of the person in front of me to see if we were in the right line, and Howard Hessman turned around. He didn't know if it was the right line, either. Gotta go see if the eclipse is on time!
