Obviously with two or three baseball play-off games on television each night people are just too busy to be spending time at their computers...... Also, remember that this IS a long weekend on both sides of the border.....Americans celebrate Columbus Day this weekend and Canadians are so thankful that Columbus discovered America that they celebrate Thanksgiving this weekend...... And everyone is waiting for the coming on Conan...... ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 09 Oct 1999 12:09:58 GMT From: LSan497884@aol.com Subject: Re: Everybody's watching baseball!!! -- or something! It's been as slow out here in the real Midwest! On 10/7 I had NO messages at all, which is unusual for a weekday. Maria also had trouble even getting onto the NG server (don't know if that's the right term, but couldn't get into any of her newsgroups). I really was ready this am to find out if there were any messages, then explore further. But, it looks as though messages are getting through, so may be slow. Fall is generally a time when people get active, out to catch the last gasp of the nice days, I guess. (And out here in Iowa, we've had bee-yoo-ti-ful weather this last week!!) We also had fun the other day. Maria and I trekked up to Ames, IA (home of Iowa State Univ) and bought tickets for Susan Werner (this Sunday), Eddie from Ohio, and MOXY FRUVOUS (11/2), all coming within the next month. Maybe it's not busy out east, because things are busy out here! Happy Thanksgiving to all our Canadian friends. I don't know if it's as big a deal up north as it is down here in the "south," but I'm sure you all have much to be thankful for. This fall, those of you in western Canada are seeing the band, and those of you in the east get to see them "all" the time! Of course, life is more than MF, so I wish you much to be thankful for! And we are thankful for Columbus also, but would probably be more thankful if it were an occasion for a national holiday where everybody got off work or school instead of only government employees. Enjoy your fall! *Lois (Fogeyfru)--glad to see some messages getting through! ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 09 Oct 1999 15:24:39 GMT From: "maryanne naylor" Subject: Re: What up? > > Nope, I checked out the NG through the Queen's > > server and I'm definately > > missing messages. Apologies if this is a well-known fact, or on FDC already, or whatever, but it's not like anything else is happening these days on AMMF. There's a station called KHUM which broadcasts in real audio, and it lists "Splatter^2" as being in heavy rotation, and Wood as being one of the CDs it plays tracks from frequently. You can find it at http://www.khum.com Also, though only about 1 other person here will be able to hear it, I thought I'd share that I'm finally going to have my own show on my school's radio station! I intend to play lots of Fruvous, Dar, TN, and all the other good stuff no one at my school but my friends and I have heard of. It should be fun. She has heard me talk about Fruvous a lot and before she even heard their music she knew all the guys names by heart. Anyway, we are in Pittsburgh currently for a Bar Mitzvah, and we came back to the room, and I started playing Fruvous at my brother's request. While "B" was playing she came over and asked to see a pic of Murray. I took out trusty "Thornhill" and said "Murray's the guy in the red shirt." She looked at him and said "Where's Jian?" I pointed him out and she said "Ooo, he's cute. I like Jian." Then she looked at me and said "Mike, Jian, Murray, and Dave, right?" I said yes, and she proceeded to run around the room yelling "FRUVOUS!" before walking over to her cot and re-naming her teddy bear Jian. - -Saph "Sometimes you're the windsheild, sometimes you're the bug." -Written by Mark Knoffler, recorded by Dire Straits, covered by Mary Chapin Carpenter. Interesting stuff I've been reading too! The reason I'm writing now is this: Is there a kind soul who can get me a standby ticket for Conan on Tuesday early am and I'll meet you in line later? My pal who was gonna go with me now has an interview that day and can't do it, and I can't take the whole day off work as it's our major annual event the following day, and I'm in the doghouse already at requesting half a day off on Tuesday. I really, really want/need to see the guys as my sanity depends on it- I'm going through major life crises right now, and the hope of seeing them is the only thing that's holding me together. Sad, isn't it!! Anyhow, whoever can help me out will have my undying gratitude forever. E-mail me, so we can swap phone #'s, etc.at 'tenzinfox@aol.com' (I'm not sure how this works so if my address appears twice....oh well!) thanks, Frances ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V3 #880 ********************************************
