There is no list of crappy things you can do to piss people off or anything. Just act like a respectful, responsible person at a show. This includes talking to people nicely even though you don't know who they are. There aren't official Fruhead judges that decide whether someone is in or out based on how they act at a show. "Oh, I'm sorry. You were so close, but when you pointed at Mr Cheese during Green Eggs and Ham you held the pose a little too long. Please do try again next year. Thank you for participating." Granted, it's not always the most efficient means of travel (I'm going to have a 10 hour drive back from Ottawa) but it means that if I can't go to a show for some reason, all I lose is the price of the ticket. Some club had a sad attempt at a picnic at lunch today, which featured a typically bad DJ playing typically bad music. One of my friends and I were discussing how easy it would be to make the poor guy's head explode by asking him to play stuff like Fruvous, or the Moody Blues, or something even stranger, like Al Jolson (he's her new thing, it's a stupid concert choir situation I won't even try to explain). That got me wondering: have any of you ever tried requesting Fruvous songs, at a dance, or a reception/party, or another event like that? Even more importantly, if you have done that, did it work? The answer might be a useful FAQ addition, eh? :) To make an umlaut over a u, the way the really cool keyboards do, the keyboard operator does this: 1) hold down alt button and 2) using the keypad, NOT the numeric keys at the top row of the alphanumeric keyboard, press one of the following combinations of numbers, in sequence: 0252 or 129 result: ü :) There are other combinations for other vowels with umlauts over them, but as we don't use 'em much here I don't have them memorised. You can make some other funky symbols with the keypad and alt button too, if you should find yourself bored silly, with a few minutes to spare. They have 2 open nights before the LA show, and 3 after. I'm sure they'll fill in the dates before then. They've still got over a month to fill in the dates--and they will. It doesn't make sense to have a band on the road for a week playing only one show. It would be cheaper to send them home for the week. They only post the confirmed shows because it would really suck if people booked plane flights, etc., and then the shows fell through, wouldn't it? Relax. In fact, sometimes, the last-minute shows end up being the easiest to get tickets to because people haven't been planning on them. I'm still betting on a Santa Barbara show and maybe a San Diego one.
