(http://www.fruvous.com) First spotted by a CBC radio executive while busking in Toronto, MOXY FRUVOUS has gone on to release 6 full-length albums, the most recent being "Thornhill". The four lads descended on THE TRAGICALLY HIP's Bathhouse Studio near Kingston, Ontario, and over four weeks experienced a collective flashback that resulted in an album with all the hallmarks of their formative years, with a few modern flourishes thrown in. Produced by Don Dixon (R.E.M., MATTHEW SWEET, THE SMITHEREENS), the challenge as he saw it was to make them sound not like four solo artists, but like a band with four lead vocalists. The new album is released in Canada on True North/ Universal and in the U.S. on Razor & Tie/ BMG. The lads appeared recently on "Open Mike" with MIKE BULLARD and are scheduled to appear on THE CONAN O'BRIEN SHOW on Tuesday, October 12. They played THE GUINNESS FLEADH this summer, which took them to Boston, New York, Chicago and San Francisco, playing with the likes of VAN MORRISON and ELVIS COSTELLO. This current tour sees them playing the length and breadth of the U.S.A. and they return to Canada to play two nights at Zaphod 2. Many of their American fans have already snapped up tickets for this show as it falls on their Thanksgiving weekend. So expect to see "fruheads" from all over the U.S. and Canada at this special two-night engagement. Come for the music, stay for the fun! So here goes: Some bands have CDs they put out that are "collections of (satirical) bits and oddities," for want of a better description. Simply put, they're B sides. For example, the Smashing Pumpkins have Pisco something or other, which is all their b-sides. The trouble is, SP only put out CDs, and CDs have one side.
