Lori says: go to a Smarties-selling emporium, buy a tube or two of Smarties, open tube(s), eat some Smarties, then close the somewhat-depleted Smarties tubes (you may wish to use duct tape for re-securing the lids) and head off to a concert. Enjoy making a racket for a couple of hours, then distribute treats after the concert to deserving friends and Frülads. :) Or go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art store and buy out their entire supply of shaker eggs. Shit. My behaviour was utterly shameful this evening, and I am heartily embarrassed by it. I want to apologize to anyone I hung around with at the Mike Bullard show for being so rude. Next time I’ll come armed with my cure for cowardice: caffeine! Then you’ll wish I was a mute ;) It was a good show, though, wasn’t it? I’ll concoct a review on the weekend when I am conscious. Trace and I commented wryly the next day that they'll never play their *real* waltz, oh no of course not. They'll just torment us with improv faux waltzes. Anotehr one I've never heard live before Me neither, which surprised the hell out of me when I thought about it. I wouldn't say it was a burning desire or anything -- certainly not along the lines of Bed and Breakfast ;) -- but I was *really* pleased and surprised to finally hear it. What I found amazing about this was the level of backing vocals that the *audience* sang. Amazing. I always mouth the words to the backing vocals -- that way I can hear them in my head the way I like them, but not disrupt the guys -- it's their show, after all. :) But this time I think easily 100 people in the audience were *singing* the "you get on/pain is gone" and "we won't part" lines. The sound washed over the room like a choir. I loved it. The guys probably have *very* mixed feelings about such goings-on, but I thought it was awfully sweet. Oh, and Lawrence didn't mention the opening band. All I can say is -- some acts do satire well. This one didn't. The result was excruciatingly offensive. - -- Lori ****************** I'll keep lighting matches 'Til one of them catches ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Sep 1999 23:11:19 -0400 From: Lawrence P Solomon Subject: still need help for Detroit Yes, I've had an offer for crash space, and I'm able to accept it, *but*, it's kind of the wrong direction for me, since I plan to drive to Chicago the next day.
