Just to clarify that...make sure to get the transfer at a different station from Queen St (preferably where you get on - or else run up at any station and grab one - you don't have to leave the subway system to get a transfer). Buses/streetcars won't accept transfers that come from the station that you are getting on at (ie. if you get on a streetcar at Queen - and I'm pretty sure it's a streetcar - then you can't use a tranfer from Queen St). If the busy working mom doesn't look too closely at what *else* she's investing in besides one-stop (dubious)quality shopping. I wouldn't boycott a band whose distributors chose to distribute its CDs at WalMart. I wouldn't begrudge them the potential sales numbers they could rack up there. I wouldn't be happy if they actively sought out shelf space there at the exclusion of more socially-friendly indie retailers, however. And this has much less to do with the corporate-giant evils of WalMart than its several sociopolitical positions that I find to be utter anathema. I *think* that's what Lawrence was trying to say. Knowing what I know of Früvous' politics, I see why this is an uncomfortable situation for them. And I certainly won't be buying any Früvous (or any other) CDs (or anything else) at WalMart, not because I think the evil rubs off on any individual band/manufacturer, but because I refuse to put the markup in the coffers of a retailer I find unethical and wrong-headed. >what I'm poorly trying to say is the world ain't perfect or >fair, and it never will be. Which is probably why they find it tolerable -- there is a certain *irony* in hearing a song like Downsizing on a CD purchased at WalMart. :) Might even make the WalMart purchaser sit up and take notice. Plus there is the simple reality that in many places, WalMart may be the only store where one can buy CDs -- particularly those of less-than-mainstream artists.
