To me, the lyric is "she hears the lines behind the lines" and that's one of my favorites from the song. It is more or less saying she knows what is really going on and what the intention truly is beyond the obviously stated one. It's a very lyrical way to put it that she can read between the lines. > So... are the monkeys in Splatter Splatter *hunted* or *haunted*? :) In my head its: "We came from monkeys We once were hunted Perhaps you recognize that haunted human face" The reason why I hear it that way is the words haunted human face make for a better image in my head than a hunted human face. I'm sorry if this has caused a problem for you! Ok, I've heard many people say that the DC show (Nov. 20) will most likely be at the 9:30 club. I know moxy's performed there before, so I just wanted to know, will it be an all-ages show (this is what I'm assuming as I haven't heard otherwise yet) and is there *really* heavy smoking done in the venue? I'm expecting to come out reeking of smoke if I do go, but I really don't want to come out feeling sick and having my old asthma act up. Also, does anyone know the prices for the keswick (Philadelphia) show yet, and if it's located in a relatively safe area? Now for the OT questions: So I was perusing through the CD section at my public library the other day, and I came upon GBS's _Rant & Roar._ I've given it a few listens so far, and I have to say that they sound pretty good, though some of the more traditional songs are, musically, not my style (although I do like 'Dancing w/ Mrs. White' and 'General Taylor', that's pretty much an exception). My most fav. tracks off the CD, are at this point, Ordinary Day and End of the World. To get to the point, do any of you have a particular (one, and one only please) CD to recommend to turn me into a full-blown GBS fan? I'm asking here and not at the GBS NG because I want a simple answer, not gushing over how GBS is such a great band, blah blah blah (no offense, GBS NG posters... but if I was a MF newbie, and knew about ammf, I wouldn't ask ammf'ers fav. album here! ; ) i would probably be the gushing person meself..) Also, concerning BNL, I only own Stunt at this point, and I've heard many, many people say here that they consider it the band's worst album. I personally think that it's not such a bad album in itself, but I would also like to hear which album, then, you think is the best. Again, as w/ GBS, please only list one album, and i'm asking here for the reasons too- no gushing, please! For both groups, please don't recommend the live albums- they generally don't sit well with me until I'm totally obsessed with the band. ~truztno1 _____________________________ ...boon, big baboon, big baboon *chicken SQUAWK!* **HPHS Guy's Octet (Quartet)~Spiderman, 5/27/99** ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 29 Aug 1999 20:21:15 -0400 From: truztno1 Subject: Re: Song Analyses (LONG, sorry!) Most likely, the analyses won't be going up until it seems like the thread is dead- that way, it makes it easier for me (or anyone else) to summarize, I should think. If you'd like to help, send your summaries on over to truztno1@fruhead.com! Unfortunately, the whole thing probably won't be up until late Oct. at the earliest... not only is it going to take a while to get everything up, even with the most simple layout for the page/site, but I'm also working on a few other big web projects (3/4 of 'em, to be exact) along with a nice heaping of all honors courses, a possibly grueling track schedule, weekly climbing classes, and probably numerous other activities (please don't tell me to "suck it up and wait till you get to college"- I'm sure I'll be miserable enough). In response to Angie's (I think... SnarkiFru is Angie, SnarkyFru- Amanda... no?) wish of another "sister site/forum", I'd like to say that my HTML/programming skills AND budget is quite limited, but if someone wants to set up another really beautiful, professional-looking site, I'd be more than willing to fork over all the material as long as the credit to the people who wrote the summaries, etc., stay intact. Ok, I think I've done enough blabbering about everything for one night, and summer english homework remains to be finished, so I'll be signing off and looking forward to contributions! ~truztno1 _____________________________ ...boon, big baboon, big baboon *chicken SQUAWK!* **HPHS Guy's Octet (Quartet)~Spiderman, 5/27/99** PS- got an idea for the name of the site? ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 29 Aug 1999 19:33:53 -0500 From: Wayne Drury Subject: Re: my mom has come to her senses! You know, Wood took me a long time to get used to, in fact I had to "rediscover" it before I liked more than a few songs. But then I really liked it. As for Thornhill, I liked it immediately, but I'm not so sure I would have the same immediate response had it been their second album. After accepting that Wood was a change in style, and hearing a few more albums which made me more prepared to expect a few zigs and zags in their repertoir, I was in a more open-minded state upon listening to Thornhill. Plus, it's just a great album. I think many people who took longer to get used to Wood probably could explain it at least partially that way. Well, that's my 10-minute analysis, so give it a listen with that in mind, and see what you get. If you think I'm full of it and you have a better interpretation, I'd be glad to hear it.
