Some stuff is better than others. Its OK to say that too. To be completely fair, I believe that Zard was criticizing your implication that we are fit to judge what does or does not constitute the essence of Früvous, which a lot of us have been venturing to do. Granted, we were all told that we were more than welcome to "speak for the band" - but to define the true spirit of the band or judge what does or does not exemplify that? Hmm . . . I don't think that's ours. I also think when you say that "Thornhill" isn't diverse, you're not really making a precise statement. When you say that "Thornhill" lacks what "Bargainville" had, you define diversity as representing every single facet of a band's body of work, which no album is really intended to do. In my opinion, every album represents the spirit of the band at a moment in time - but only a moment. That's why I think *no* band can be defined by any one album or song, but rather should be perceived through their entire compendium. Jian said at The Point the other night that it's the single greatest crime for an artist to censor hirself in the very act of creation. Especially in light of the "concept album" theory behind "Thornhill," wouldn't it be as much of a crime for the artists in question to limit themselves (or rather break the flow) by attempting to create something that represents a cross-section of their work, even if it doesn't fit with what they're attempting to achieve through that particular piece of work? Personally, I think the album would have suffered. Maybe I'm just biased - I have a "Thornhill" addiction :). ~~Kate - -- Kate Leahy kleahy@loyola.edu katiewow@fruhead.com *********************************** "It's a long long road It's a big big world We are wise wise women We are giggling girls . . .
