Just because we all love to put "name" songs all over the place, it doesn't mean the others in the band don't play a major role in the album. I haven't listened to Thornhill with the express purpose of seeing where Murray is each second of the album, but I'd say that he's there 100% of the way and doing some durned cool stuff the whole time! Mur's instramentalling has grown up so much since the last time he changed his strings. Quite honestly, when I started following Fruvous and really digging their stuff, I wouldn't have listed Murray Foster as an influence on my bass playing. He had chops (he has to tour like a fiend) and a great ear, but I couldn't see how me seeing 10 concerts of their and loving them affected my playing. Now, at times, I've found myself ripping off Fruvous fills on accident *grin*. Anyways, the album may be minimal lead singing Murray, but it's chock full of the backgroup Murray and the bass playing Murray that we know and love. - Chad ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 Aug 1999 15:03:39 GMT From: Melanie Natoli Subject: Re: a little question... - --- Mind Unit wrote: > >if you could ask Moxy Fruvous any > >question, what would it be? > "Do you think Moxy Früvous will ever become a huge > household-name kind of band > (a la Barenaked Ladies), and is that something you > (the band) would want to > have happen?" > I can't answer this for the guys, obviously, but I have my own take on this question as a fan. I wish the guys all the success in the world, but only as much as they want. I'm not one of those fans that would say I hope they never make it. You know, some people like the fact that when you talk about the band you get the notorious "Moxy Who?" response, and they fear that if the band does "make it big" they'lol forget us little people. I say spread the Frulove, when people say "Moxy who" to me, I tie them down and make them listen, ok, not really, but I go on with a "you gotta hear them, they rock" kind of schpeel (woh, I can't spell that). Stardum (wow, can I spell anything?) is hard thing to deal with though, some people can handle and others can't. I mean, just look at all the great musicians that have turned to drugs, that's sad. I think the guys are really having fun doing what they do. I would imagine it might not be as fun if everyone knew who they were and thry couldn't step out side their homes without bein mobbed by people and media. That's not a life I'd like atleast. Although think, if fame was in your sight, could you hold yourself back from reaching for it? It's not something you can taste and give back, if you get there, you're pretty much stuck. I just hope that whatever happens, the guys always love what they're doing (isn't that what life is about?), and us fruheads stick by them. --MeL === ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "If you're going to be able to look back on something and laugh, you might as well laugh at it now." --Marie Osmond MeLaNiE ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
