Getting all excited for the show on Wednesday! Also for the two in-stores-- looks like I'll be able to go to both, whoo-hoo! Here's the question: I'm *very* keen on obtaining a tape of the show Wednesday (saw The Bobs last week; my first time at the venue, liked it a lot), but can't get access to the necessary equipment in time. My party has the seats *directly in front of* the sound board. Is someone taping who, through the goodness of their heart, might allow me a copy in exchange for us getting a patch into the board from our convenient vantage point? Please email me personally; I only get the newsgroup in digest form, so might not get responses in time to coordinate efforts... We're at Ram's Head for dinner at 7:00-- looking forward to seeing everyone there! loves, Kate ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Katherine E. Don't go for it people! This guy is trying to rip you off. So, this is by way of saying: For the first 4 people who email me, you can get a copy of this show on CDR. I'm not sure yet if it will fit on one CDR... but if so, you would just need to send me one blank CD and return postage. My source for the show is the rig that Kevin mentions below in this message. If you are responding to this after 9a.m. on wednesday, assume you are too late. Email away! cheers, nate Kevin Way wrote: > > jeremy- > > what did you tape with? where were you located? I was shortly joined by a couple of children whith whom I happily shared room at the front, and I started pointing out the Boo Time hats, etc. The boy (10? His sister was 13?) asked me if I was a FruHead. I said yes and the three of us became fast friends. They loved Fruvous but had never seen them live. They were from California, visiting grandparents or something and Fruvous just happened to be in the area during their visit. We danced together, and babbled and enjoyed the show. Lately, I have been getting rather sentimental over The Drinking Song. When the Lads started in, I bit my lip, determined not to break down in front of my new friends. It didn't work. I started getting teary and staring off into space and the boy came over to me and said "Are you ok?" I said "Yeah, this song always reminds me of my Father". He said "Did your father die?" When I said "yes", he patted my arm and went back to the railing. During the next chorus, I had my eyes closed tightly to keep the tears from spilling out and I felt a hand on my back. He had come over and was standing next to me, patting my back. Same thing for the last chorus. I smiled at him, and said "thank you." And he smiled back at me. After the show, when their grandparents came over, I kinda melted away into the crowd. I have always been really bad at good-bys, and explainations. I don't even remember their names. But I'm glad I met them, and I hope they did get the autographs they were so excited over. Ever since my Father died, I haven't wanted to link arms for Drinking Song. Not being anti-social, just not wanting to share my emotions. But I wanted to hug that little boy. In another IRC channel, they have the motto "Shared pain is lessened, shared joy is increased" from Spider Robinson's Callahan books. Drinking Song does both for me now. Pain at the loss I suffered, joy at the friends I have. Both can bring tears to my eyes. Sometimes, I can't tell which one is. ladywench ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 17 Aug 1999 21:45:47 -0400 From: Nate DeRose Subject: Re: I recorded fruvous 8/14 digitally This offer is closed.... Any comments on her music? I Love Christine Lavin, I've been following her for ten years. She is super talented. Her funny songs, the majority are hysterical and her serious songs are so moving. She gives an incredible live performance and is totally adorable. She also likes Moxy. She used to host the WFUV Sunday breakfast show, and still does it occasionally. Her themesong for the recipe portion of the show is Johnny Saucep'n. I'm seeing her Tomorrow night at the Brokerage Club in Bellmore NY, on Long Island. She has a Website of course. http://www.christinelavin.com/ I actually just put up a webpage with a poem about her the URL is http://fruhead.com/users/DrWhoFru/cla.html If you visit it make sure you follow the link to my Moxy Fruvous Page. If I seem a little enthusiastic about her I am. Feanole aka DrWhoFru ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V3 #711 ********************************************
