Josh and I talk about this a lot. I really don't think there is anything that frustrates me more than having Fly put in the encore at a Fruvous show. It's really awkward to me. You can tell it's hard for the band because they have to calm down and get into the mood (sometimes taking several minutes to do it). Then they have to bring it back up afterwards. I've seen it done successfully maybe once and I've seen it done to terrible results a couple times (can someone say Utica recently? I knew you could). I agree whole-heartedly, Ellen. Going from Fly to Authors immediately would be like a slap across the face... - Chad ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 02 Aug 1999 18:53:32 GMT From: "Cara (Laika) Kozack" Subject: Re: my humble paean to Fly I agree with you totally about the setlist thing. I mean MBLABOA is my FAVORITE song by Fruvous but I don't think that it works that it should follow such a deep, sorroful, and melodic song like Fly. But their are a couple songs that would work (Horseshoes, IWHO, Fell in Love ect.) As for the song itself, I also just adored the LN version and played it six times in a row. I didn't hear the wood version first so wasn't expecting to be dissapionted. The only song called Fly I heard before was that awful one by Sugar Ray (yuck!). When ever I hear that song I want to yell "Hey you took a good song title and RUINED it!" Now I realize that it is really impossible for me to listen to a song that has the same name as a Moxy Früvous, although in most cases that will be impossible. It was great. The audience was silent listening to him go on and on about it. Then Fordy, who must have been feeling left out, starts making crap up about the movie. Something like Eric Stolz's Uncle Leo was doing stuff. The audience stared at him, stunned having no idea what he was talking about (but still really quiet) and this one lady in the silence while Fordy was making up more stuff yelled "What are YOU talking about?". Everyone utterly died laughing. > Best Meaning of "Moxy Fruvous" you've heard, or can think of: Well, I know a lot of people, including myself, have been known to just make up crazy meanings for Moxy Fruvous for no apparent reason. Scrabble, some street in Toronto, a speed on a blender, the name of an extemely separatist, nudist intuit group from the northern Yukon. But really, you all know that Fruvous is Estonian for "No Comment" right? So a Moxy Fruvous is when someone says "No Comment" in a gutsy way. Kinda like: Japanese Reporter: So, Mr. Clinton, what do you think about how George Bush wretched all over our Prime Minister? Clinton: Uh... um...
