Hmm, why am I suddenly thinking of Mel Brooks' History of the World Part I, and the "teaser" for HotW P II? With the Viking Funeral and Jews in Space, Hitler on Ice? OTOH, considering how much material they've been playing with... I could see it happen. Pisco finds a home, whoooo hoooo! *I wouldn't consider Beatles-esque to be an insult or negative comment at all. It's a widely known, accepted, and revered fact that the Beatles are one of Moxy's greatest loves and influences. The highest form of flattery is imitation. The cool thing is, Fruvous recreates the Beatles sound but it has that unique Moxy Fruvous flair to it, know what I mean? They aren't trying to be like a cover band or anything... just showing their roots. Now, to quote the article: >Moxy Früvous makes kicky pop with a nerdy aesthetic, and exhibits a > penchant for novelty numbers. So it seems odd that after the Ladies > finally break through with the hokey "One Week," Moxy Früvous decides > to play it straight. This comment bothered me a bit, initially... but after reconsidering I suppose the general misconception is that Fruvous wants to "be like BNL" or "follow on the coattails of BNL's success". I still think in the end they will see that it's a great move on Moxy's part, showing there's more to them than "novelty numbers" (A band with substance? who'da thunk it?) My other major thought, with so many people using the term Beatlesesque, is that the "industry" is striving frantically to find a label for Moxy's music. Defining that which defies definition... once one or two people slap that label on Thornhill, others who were struggling for classification will pick it up and pass it on... hence, for the marketing moguls: Thornill= kicky Beatlesesque Pop. *sigh* I'm just waiting to see something on VH1 (you know, the one that actually _plays_ videos) touting them as the "Fab Four of the next Millennium"... [whew! i hafta sit down after all that...!] Um, I think that's it. oh, as soon as I saw the post from JudyRob or what ever it was... I just sent her private email summarizing the sitch. Since I haven't heard anything one way or another... she's either a) what she says she is and decided not to write back, b) what she says she is but hasn't checked her email, c) someone who "thinks" it's her friend being talked about, or d) a she-troll waiting anxiously for a flame war to happen. sorry chicadee, aint' gonna happen here :^) We're a decent bunch, us FruHeads. In a drumming circle drummers will often key in on the deepest and loudest drum for tempo, so they're awesome for holding the beat and filling the rhythm.
