I'd also love to hear Sad Today as a closer, especially in an age-restricted nightclub atmosphere: there's nothing like singing along to that song after a couple of beers, in my opinion. Picture the cacophony! I've only heard Sad Today performed live once. It's not necessarily a bad thing since the guys are good at capturing the same combination of creativity, cleverness and cadence that the Fab Four exhibited. When I was growing up, there was so much excitement about a new Beatles album because you never knew what to expect. Each LP had radical differences, sounds nobody had ever heard before. Songs like Splatter, Splatter achieve a similar effect as some of the Beatles hits--great songs on their surface, powerful songs when you contemplate the lyrics and the music together. When I first heard Get in the Car and Your New Boyfriend, the comparison to the Beatles was almost instant. Personally, I'm partial to Fru-songs that are decidedly different, like Horseshoes. But they prove with each new song how talented they are musically. Let's hope that creativity keeps flowing for many years to come. WAAHOOO According to FDC, Fruvous have never played Lupo's Heartbreak hotel in Providence. They did, however, play the Met Cafe several (four) times, the latest one being this past May. I attended that one, as well as the show in December of 1997 (next-to-last show of the Your New Boyfriend Tour). All I can say is, I am glad *someone* enjoyed the shows. Too many drunks yelling "Play the f***g Drinking Sawng!!" for my taste. See also Murray's setlist from the 12/6/97 show, also on FDC, which he signed, "Show from Hell." The show itself was great, the audience - not very. Sigh. The only reason I went to this year's show at the Met was because I'm starting to feel some kind of loyalty toward Providence, where I go to school/work, which really gets too much bad rap. But it was more of the same - Fruvous were pretty amazing (even more than usual, I mean), the audience was disrespectful, loud and obnoxious.
