I wanted to comment earlier, but I didn't, probably because I had a good distracting reason. Some of you may know what I'm talking about... When you all were disecting IWHO a few weeks ago, I took a long look and realised, "This applies to me more than any Früvous song ever has." Especially because I happen to be the Healer in said situation. (This is the distraction I mentioned.) So to anyone who may have read my rants about IWHO before, and especially to Jian, I'm sorry. It's a beautiful theme. And now it gets to me. Doesn't mean I don't get bored during its performance... Hey, Satan didn't remind me of "Fly"... but Saddam's dance reminded me of "No No Raja". We just had a station turn from a semi-okay station to a KISS station. I really dislike that. I don't see why something has to be in the top-40 or be massively popular for a radio station to play a song. There is plenty of good (and bad) music out there that is not top-40. I don't set popularity as a standard for music I enjoy (I'm not saying you do either, Fiona), and I personally dislike a station that does. I just can't stomach KISS 107. I CAN stomach some other stations that play popular music, and not so popular music. I will gladly listen to those stations. But, nine times out of ten, I will tun my radio to the public radio station. As one announcement said on that station, "You'll hear music here that you won't here anywhere else" (or something like that), but they also play a good share of popular music. I dunno... when they were out here in June, they did a radio show taping in Berkeley until 12 PM and managed to make it across the bay to San Francisco by 2ish PM. This drive takes far longer than you'd think; you have to cross the perpetually-clogged Bay Bridge and then cross SF itself--no mean feat! Of course, it's much more corporate now than when I originally worked there in 1987. Back then, the store CLOSED every night at 9 p.m., we had ashtrays at the computers (2 Mac Plus'!) for the customers, and one of our co-workers drank beer out of a paper bag while he was cleaning the self-service machines.
