About 1/2 hour and includes: Message, MBLABOA, B.J., Michigan Militia, KOS, GE&H (full version!), and Love Potion #9/Four Dead in Ohio/Stayin' Alive Medley. Since I now keep a boombox in my office with a blank tape at the ready, I also have "My Poor Generation" (played on World Cafe 7/13/99 and including "...baffled by bulls***" not bleeped out) and "Splatter, Splatter" (played on Helen's show this a.m.) - each with just a few of the first seconds missing due to the delay in my finger hitting the "record" button. I do have to concentrate on getting some work done, in addition to listening to 'XPN! :-) While I do not want to get caught up in making zillions (or even dozens, or baker's dozens) of copies, I would be interested in trading for other good MF stuff. I live in Delaware, a half hour away from Philly, so here comes the flak. The Flyers are, without a doubt, the best team in the NHL (even if they did get rid of Hexy, GRUMBLE, GRUMBLE)! The air up in Denver must be gettin' to ya:) My bro turned me on to XPN a year ago. We were going to the IMAX movie Everest in Philly, and as luck had it, the show was sold out. So we went to the car, Jim turned on XPN. They were talkin' about The Concert under the Stars, that happened that night, to be headlining MF. Jim said that a friend told him MF was the best band he'd seen in concert. We went enthusiastically to it, the opening band was OK, but not great. When Fruvous came on there was a tremendous cheer. The concert was held in a medium sized park, they were in a gazebo. There was one guy with dreads, and his shirt off. The guy had his hemp pants down so far you could see his pubic hair. Mind you that this was a family-oriented concert. Anyway, Jian saw this guy, and made fun of him in song, it was great! So now XPN is my fave station, and my suggestion to you is, if you can't get enough XPN, move to Philly. Cheesesteaks galore and XPN, hmmmm... Sigh...most of those were bands I couldn't listen to for a while - I was resentful of being unable to see them (I was just barely underage), and then later I felt guilty for not trying harder to get interested in them anyway. Saw the Suburbs live at least twice - unfortunately their shows didn't measure up to their recordings; they were so under the influence they looked like they didn't even know their own names. I still freak out and bounce around the room when I hear that "Love Is The Law" intro though...and of course the Replacements (after I got over my bitterness at never having seen them live) got to be one of my favorite "old home" bands. And I think I saw the Wallets once too (or was that a different band? They did a song called "Totally Nude")...A friend of mine remarked that their bassist looked like "God at age 18," and that's how he signed her autograph. How about the Urban Guerrillas? Yep! That's them! The bassist's name is Jim Clifford and he's now an elementary school teacher. Max Ray, the sax player, in addition to playing in his own band with his wife, Rochelle, (and when he isn't fishing,) is also the handyman for my duplex in Minneapolis. Apparently, he fell into that Minneapolis heroin fad back in the early 90s, and moved to New York. The last I heard of a Larry sighting was about 7 years ago when he came by another local musician's house asking for money.
