However, I share the other Katie's reservations about picking the spot for everyone else. If Ya'll just want to go in together at 7, or what ever time was set, could you save a little corner for my two tents and car? I'll be working late into the night, hopefully in the kiddy tent. When I get a letter telling me where I'll be working, I'll post it so that if anyone would like to find me they'll know where to do it. [1] yes, the magic is still going strong. it's been a pretty cool year listening to this band. so, with that in mind, here are my Top Ten Favorite Things I've Discovered Since (and Because Of) Discovering Fruvous: 10. other cool bands such as the nields, eddie from ohio, trout fishing, and dan bern, to name but a few. 9. couches make interesting pants. [2] 8. i can like songs written for the banjo *and* still hate country music. 7. the word "horseshoes" can sound quite euphonius under the right conditions. 6. there appear to be canadians who are just as puzzled by rush limbaugh as i am. 5. there *is* a place for all the leftover deadheads who are not currently following phish, widespread panic, or dave matthews. they've moved on to folk festivals. 4. a bunch of nifty words like "busking" and "crooner" that have found regular usage in my vocabulary. 3. i can still (occasionally) survive on 2.5 hours' sleep. 2. strangely enough, "Ohio" segues rather nicely into "Stayin' Alive." 1. did you know that a former spanish *King* lives in toronto and works at a pizza place?? ;) feel free to add if you like. peace, ellen [1] i hereby and offically declare that i am a Great Big SUCKER for this song. i hate to disagree with the songwriter about what it conveys-- that generally makes one look like a moron-- but if he was going for obssession, or an unhealthy kind of attachment, i don't really hear it in the song. i mostly hear sweet, warm things that make me think, "why aren't people more considerate to each other in general? why is it so weird to hear someone say they'll do whatever it takes to keep love alive and kicking?" *sigh* anyway, whatever the intention, this song is lush and gorgeous to my ears, and it'll turn me into a swoony goofball "as long as i got bref in mah body." [2] i was nice; i could have said "Brady Bunch fashion is not dead yet." *************************************************** If only I'd thought of the right words...
