But for them I take both into account and was always very impressed by the music they wrote, and after the 1st live show, impressed by what they put into the performance. I'm a very very tough lyric critic (God knows why, I can't write songs for crap), so hardly anybody meets my standards there (JELLYFISH!) but there are a lot of bands that make up for the lyrics with a lot of musical and performance merit. This is exactly what they have been frequently used as. And, if that doesn't convince you, according to my dictionary, (Meriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary), PANSY - 1. A Garden Flower ... 2. For example, the last three times I saw Moxy Früvous play "I Will Hold On" which is one of my favorite new songs, I was devastated to not hear background vocals during the second and third verses. I'm not a big ng poster around here, but I might've said something like, "Hey guys, did you notice that they aren't singing background vocals on I Will Hold On lately? I think that takes away from the song." Yeah that's negative, but on the other hand I didn't say "I can't believe it. Moxy Früvous tries to do a meaningful song and then totally screws it up. Why do they even try?" (Obviously I don't think this about the group it's an example! :) ) Constructive criticism is great and all, but even so it's very atypical to start three threads emphasizing what one finds bad about a certain group IN that groups newsgroup. (Overused the word group there). For my remaining 2 cents (and I'm sure I'm overdrawn already) I find many of their songs to be musically amazing, many to be lyrically amazing, and some of them are both. Whatever, I like them and that's all that matters to me! Besides, if I wanted TOTAL perfection I'd be listening to "Livin' La Vida Loca" by Ricky Martin and "Believe" by Cher. :) I mean, the big studio execs and millions of people can't all be wrong, can they?
