Name calling in this setting has the potential to offend others. Frankly, I didn't appreciate this remark at all. Calling someone a pansy is equivalent to calling them a fag or a dyke, etc. And I for one don't take kindly to this type of name calling. Perhaps I'm oversensitive. As I'm sitting here hoping and praying that my support and advice has _not_ been wasted, but wondering... I'll be the first to admit that I'm a silly fan. I was in a grocery store a few months ago and saw an inflatable Zamboni that I seriously considered "liberating" so that I could have the guys sign it. I bake for them. I bought them silly keychain toys for the Utica show (Murray got a talking Lost in Space Robot that did in fact say, "Danger Will Robinson", Jian got a pocket "Simon" game, Mike got a SuperSoaker keychain, Dave got a miniature Mr. Potato Head, Tobey got a Pez Dispenser with Uncle Sam on it, and Cal got the Monopoly set, only because I didn't know him well enough as I was shopping) There was a card with captions relating each to each person... but it was incredibly silly and Murray and Tobey LOVED it. What's wrong with silly? Are we silly folk giving Frü Fans a bad name? I don't get things signed at every concert, though I do have a good collection of autographs so far. I like getting 'graphs on occasion because its something else to take back and remember the concert and the conversation and the good times had (I still get jazzed when I look at my poster and think about the Hamilton College Show!). What will I do in Ft. Erie? Will I bake? Will I have new items to be signed? Will I greet at all? Yes I will greet, but I think its time to refresh pics of me and the guys, plus try to get some concert shots (the ones from U of R came out ok, I did get a nice poser of the Purple Moose that I'll have to scan eventually). The point is, if the guys didn't like it they'd say _something_ about it... one thing I've noticed is that they are definitely _not_ shy about something happening that they don't like/approve of. Getting autographs aren't for every fan, but please don't begrudge those of us that do... sometimes its nothing else but a conversation piece. Patrick, I have to ask you honestly... what exactly _is_ your intent on being on the ng? Surely it isn't _just_ to criticize and cause trouble, right? A crowd for a show doesn't just fall from the sky the night before a show only to return to whence it came the day after. For bands like Moxy Fruvous and many smaller, non-big label bands, crowds grow from the seeds that were planted the last time the band played that city. If you have a major label, the label provides a lot of up front bucks that allow promotion that brings in crowds. If your label is big enough you get heard without even playing a place. But with Fruvous, it's grassroots. Yes there is promo, but nothing even nears the scale it would be with a major label that cared and saw the band as a cash cow (which it probably isn't within the stretch of normal thinking) like Fruvous had with Bargainville. Fruvous getting 200 people the second time in a city is good for them based on my prior experiences with going to concerts. To me, 200 people is not a small concert. The largest I've seen (non-festival) is the probably 1400 people it takes to completely clog up the Troc in Philly. The smallest would be a 35 person show in Bloomington IN. Both shows were good, not stellar, but good. - Chad ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Jun 1999 15:13:41 GMT From: trace@frumail.org (Trace) Subject: Re: Milwaukee Setlist On 14 Jun 1999 15:08:34 GMT, jimcclur@ews.uiuc.edu (Jordan I.
