Most of us probably go to FDC daily, right? and then -like- : you'd get really sick of hearing them.. sick of hearing fruvous? *gasp* : NEVER!!! heehee Music that you can choose to play is not annoying at all. music that plays spontaneously is. For a couple reasons - one, some people are looking at web pages from work or other public places. These computers often have internal speakers that cannot be turned off, and when music plays spontaneously, it can be annoying to co-workers, etc (not that Fruvous is annoying, it just isn't always appropraite for music in the workplace). So their immediate reaction would be to stop loading the page and leave the site. Reason number two is bandwidth. Music adds to the time that it takes for a person to be able to view the site. Longer it takes, more likely the person is to leave without visiting. On a slow modem connection, FDC is pretty intensive as it is (sorry Chris!) - I love the layout, but there are lot of images on the page, and it takes a long time to get in. Music would slow it down further. Sorry for the long winded answer - as a web designer, that's my job to know about things like that. In short, music itself is not evil, it's just in how it is handled. Sara, hoping that was in plain enough english to be understood! _______ The secret of life: breathe in, breathe out, repeat. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Jun 1999 23:57:49 -0400 From: "KatieWow" Subject: Re: Weird pronunciation of "video" on studio King of Spain? bleh. i've gotta get a job that doesn't require me to be up at 5 AM. in that case, it's a dave voice trick. perhaps a little royal snob inflection? ~~kate - -- Kate Leahy kleahy@loyola.edu katiewow@frumail.org ***************************************************************** Anyone who goes to the shows knows that the banter is spontaneous because half the time it's real crap. - --Jian, The Globe and Mail, 2.20.99 **************************************************************** ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V3 #459 ********************************************
