'jesus christ superstar' and 'joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat' are two examples. he also wrote a kickass 'pie jesu.' i'd say he should stick to religious subjects, but his modern-day jesus story 'whistle down the wind' was pretty disappointing. as for sondheim, he's probably my favorite. (frücontent: jian admires him as well. we discussed him a little after the providence show). This year the play is called "Anti-gravity" (the playwright escapes me right now...sorry) It's basically about mental illness, lost love and family problems. Well the director is notoriously hard to work with... and was shooting down almost everything the sound designer turned in for possible preshow music. The designer was getting frustrated and pulled out the last CD she had with her...which was Live Noise.(Keep in mind this is the same person who canceled rehearsal the night of the Ludlows show last year so we could all go) She played him "Fly" as a desperate last resort (they needed one more song) and...the director loved it..it was the only preshow song that he actually liked! He even asked her to copy it for him! This makes running the play *much* more bearable belive me!
