However i *do* get angry at a lot of things, things that i see as unfair and things that are frustrating. I know countries have laws for a reason and i respect that. It's just that, to me, theres no use trying to reason or justify something that, in the end, doenst work out any better for me, or someone else. I dont see age restrictions on a fruvous show as "a necessary and protective legislation to protect the sobriety of minors or the morale of the public" or anything as such. To me, its simply a pain in the ass. I of course dont promote or condone underage drinking or anything, and i certainly see the objectives in keeping minors out of bars and clubs, but arghhhh its just so frustrating, when i see other alternatives that can be reached. For instance, why cant people who are drinking simply get a stamp upon entering the venue, signifying that they are of legal age to drink? or why dont they make it so that you must show your ID at the bar when ordering drinks? Something! Sure, it wont guarantee that underagers wont drink, but what does?? If underagers want to drink, they will always find a way, and nothing is going to stop them. To me, its just pointless to miss out on a band you want to see just cause you arent a certain age. I mean, they do that stamp thing at some clubs when there arent bands performing or when some certain bands are. Fruvous usually plays over 21 shows, and its a big kick in the teeth, especially since i see all these alternatives. To me, its more of a matter of principle than fruvous. There are other bands that i couldnt see because of the 19+ thing (spirit of the west, my 2nd fav band, i have never even seen live, and i cant even count the number of times they have come to play 19+ shows in my city [including one not too long ago that was held in a stupid tent about 9 blocks from my house and i couldnt go]> ARGGHH). What Im trying to say here is its just aggravating not being able to go to a show, whatever the band, when, as i mentioned, other measures can be taken. I have never been one to just hang my head and say nothing when i see something with which i dont agree (if any of you knew me, youd give that statement a prize for understatement of the year); i always have something to say about everything. I'm still deciding whether thats a good thing or a bad thing ;) - -jen this rant has been made possible by the letters M and Q, and by the number 4. === "Did you know that 1 of 4 people is mentally/emotionally disturbed? Ya, it sucks when youre talking to one of your non fruhead friends, and you bring up fruvous and theyre like "fruva who?" or "the king of spain people?" and most times i dont even get THAT. My brother knew fruvous before i did, and basically introduced me to Bargainville way back when (altho hes not really a fan and now i claim ownership of the bargainville cd). He even met jian before i did, way back when he was jean and my brother called him that, hehe. He (jian) was just walking around gage park in hamilton at the festival of friends in 95, before fruvous performed, and my bro spotted him and said hey jean, hows it going? i was all jealous cause i didnt see him, but i got to meet him for the first time after the show. Ahhh, memeories. i was a starstruck teeny 15 year old then, and i vividly remember heart palpitations and shaky knees upon meeting a member of my fav band. (mur, mike and dave were nowhere to be seen) Thereafter, me and my best friend at the time (who loved fruvous too and who was totally in love with Mur, who we didnt get to meet then) ran out of the park, quietly shrieking (oxymoron?) ohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygod as we weaved thru the dark park trying to find our ride.
