If you are curious, fruvous has a video for stuck in the 90's, fell in love, down from above, get in the car, fly, king of spain, MBLABOA, and thats it i believe. I have them performing in the Kumbaya festivals, the MD telethon, Mike Bullard, Rita and Friends, the Canadian Music Video Awards (1993), MusicWorks, MM, the MM spotlight, and various others. RIT is coming So mom sends me to her hairdresser to get shorn, and the woman starts freaking out about how exciting this prom getting ready stuff was...ermm...okay. But she did do my hair nicely =+). Mom took off for 10 minutes and wouldn't tell me where she was going. I tried to get over it and we went out for a sushi lunch. I got all niced up after a short nap (still sick). My kick ass dress, hair and makeup and all - -----LOL! the pretty in pink prom song *just* came one my radio! "touch you once" i guess its called------ the best part of the whole get up was my 3 inch combat boots under the skirt and the boxers! =+) So, he shows up in a tan suit (cause he didn't have enough $ for both proms... even though I paid for this one and It was 3 times as much!). At this point I'm thinking, "the bastard's getting the flapper at his weather he wants it or not" We take all the pictures and I get a few with the boots! Now I will say that he looked hot, but similar interests are a nice thing too =+). Well, because of another prom we decided no corsage and boutinere (sp?) for this one. His parents decided to get one for us. Surprise! That is where mom had disappeared to as well! To tell dad to buy some. Two Cs and Bs and my dad's were better =+) So we decided so eat dinner at the hotel since it was included in the ticket price weather I liked it or not. Well, the dinner kinda sucked and no one I was good friends with was around. I am *friends* with just about everyone though, so Josh was bombarded with at least 250 introductions out of the 400 ppl that night (not exaggerating). The funniest was the security guard who genuinely had no idea who I was because I wasn't in my wide leg jeans and tee shirt (he was the one I invited to the DC show with me) Until ppl started flowing in and dancing Josh gave me endless stories about times that he had gotten drunk and all about proms with ex girlfriends...blech! So my friends started showing and there was a little dancing. Then I found Tiffany. Tiff and I are a pair. We would hike up our skirts (mind you, she did *not* have boxers!) and dance around wildly and a little, well, alot racy. That was awesome 'cause guess what? Josh doesn't dance. I said "look around you. Do any of these ppl look like they can dance?" A lot of the time he went to sit down and I stayed and danced. Best time of the night 'cause I got jiggy with about 20 of my guy friends. It was really hilarious when Tiff and I each took a side of innocent Sam and danced at/for/with him. He learned to like it =+) I felt kinda bad when Josh came back over and I was still in that mood so Tiff and I spotted a crowd of like 10 boys and start saying "boys boys boys boys" with each step we took until we were in the middle. We dubbed that the mating call of the night =+) We finally did get Josh to loosen up and dance and him and I left a lil early to change for after prom. We were mad tired but we went (we were BOTH sick). We only stayed for 2 hours (not worth the $), but I talked to some of my converts and YAY, had a smore! (cool despite the burn =+)). We went back to my house ( cause it was 2:30 in the morn and way to late for him to go home an hour away. We laid down on the floor and watched Princess Bride. Here is the Ack part. Some time around the fire swap, he went to the couch to sleep and I stayed on the floor. Well he kissed me on the cheek (fine 'cause i do that to my guy friends and I told him it was a just friends thing....ie no chance with me buddy). So i turned my head to kiss his cheek and he kissed me on the lips! Ack! It was just a peck, but but ... but no! I don't mind kissing hot guys, but I just hopes that that was no initiation of a relationship. oh well. that was the night..... oh funny thing. he said "i like to encourage individuality" and I said "oh really? may i remind you of a certain flapper dress?" he said that his school is judgmental but I could if I still wanted too. I said that I don't care what his school thinks of me and if I found the time it was getting made. 'Course, that involves going to six bloody shows, not an easy feat when one is living a continent away. I think we should have a campaign to end west-coast discrimination on the part of the Fru. I didn't choose to be born so darn far away! Maybe I could get an honorary Fruheadship by listening to recorded concerts. Of course, that means that I'd have something like ten honorary budgie dogs dancing on my ass. But then again, one can get _that_ pretty easily: a few stiff drinks and a few pounds of commercial tranquilizers usually does it. Note: This post in no way should be construed to promote licit or illicit drug use, unless one actually enjoys budgie dogs on the ass, in which case one might be better off in a stupor.... ----- Subject: Re: "Fruhead"? It's more of a personal thing. Allow me a little personal example... None of that, now. This is a family show. I really enjoy listening to the band Phish. I have approximately 39 hours of bootlegs, all the studio releases, even singles. I've been to all of one show, and loved it. Do I consider myself a Phishhead? No, I don't. I'll go well out of my way to get a new Phish release or to get to a show, but if I don't make it there or get the CD for even a few weeks, my life is not ruined. I won't be all bummed out, kicking myself for missing the opportunity. Phishheads, on the other hand, would chew off their own feet up to their kneecaps if they think it will get them to a show. ;) Now, I really enjoy listening to the band Moxy Fruvous. I have no bootlegs (though I'd love to rectify _that_ little deficiency), only one studio release (though I fully intend to get them all as soon as funding allows). I've been to all of one show and loved it. Do I consider myself a Fruhead? No, I don't. I do, however, consider myself a Fru-Fan, an advocate for the spread of Fruness everywhere. I don't expect to ever reach Fruhead status (beyond getting all those nice little stamps on my card... ), simply because it's a state of mind to which I do not aspire. It is, IMHO, a personal choice of label dictated by choice of action and personal reaction thereupon. Gee, that was anything but lucid. ;) Ah well, as they say, "Eschew Obfuscation." - ------ Subject: What is a "Fruhead?" (longish) From: Holly Tominack; ACS (PD) Date: 1996/09/10 Here's my answer. Let's examine the word itself. We have "Fru," which signifies "Fruvous," which refers to four particular gentlemen and the music they make. Then we have "head," which signifies the roundish thing at the top of your neck that holds your brain, which, presumably you have if you're reading this. Do *you* have Fruvous in your head? Do Fruvous tunes lodge themselves in your brain? Why, of course! You're a "Fruhead!" All you need to be a Fruhead is a head with some Fruvous in it! Some may wish to argue that true Fruhead status can only be achieved by getting Marcus to mark up a little yellow piece of paper as proof positive of your presence at six Fruvous gigs. That's just the band's wacky promotional gimmick. It's entirely possible (but not at all probable) that a person can attend six Fruvous shows, obtain the six stamps and the nifty T-shirt and still not actually develop an appreciation of Fruvous. And suppose someone with only a few stamps on her Frucard mails her card to someone in Ohio who obtains the stamps on the card on her behalf? Again, not likely to happen, but still possible. I'm not suggesting that anyone would abuse the Frucard promotion in such manner; I'm just pointing out that the system has some holes in it. So, six stamps on your Fruhead card may give you the "offical title of Fruhead," but that's only in the scope of a promotional gimmick--- and what does "offical" mean, anyway? (Of course, all this comes from a person who is pleased to have acquired "offical" Fruhead status. I am not interested in dissing the Fruhead card promotion or diminishing the efforts of people who have gone out of their way to earn Fruhead status. I apologize if I come across that way. Please pass the salt and take my words with grains of it as needed.) In my opinion, you are a Fruhead if you have the good taste to appreciate the music of Moxy Fruvous; if the music speaks to you somehow; if you recognize a yourself and your world in it, and you think it's neat-o. Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus and Yes, Colleen, you are a Fruhead. In fact, you're more than a Fruhead, Colleen. You're a Fruheart. :) - ------ Subject: Re: What is a "Fruhead?" All you need to be > a Fruhead is a head with some Fruvous in it! How about a head which has actually taken the form of Fruvous? Perhaps you could get drastic plastic surgery, so that your head resembled that of Larry Boniface Clebdon? Or maybe, as you continue to see Fruvous shows, your head slowly transforms into four separate busts of the guys, in the order that they appear on the cover of wood. That would sure be nifty, wouldn't it? :) Peace, Nikolai "Milk the joke for all it's worth" Faaland - -- Robbie Williams - May 1 Toronto, ON, The Opera House/4 New York, NY, Bowery Ballroom/6 Philadelphia, PA, TLA/7 Boston, MA, The Paradise/ 8 Montreal, PQ Le Medley/10 Washington, D.C, 9.30 Club /12 Atlanta, GA, Cotton Club/14 Chicago,IL, The Metro/15 Detroit, MI, St Andrews - -----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Own ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V3 #340 ********************************************
