Traditional- sounding Celtic stuff, with a sort of Ian Anderson-type voice. And that Mike Fox accompanying him on fiddle was awesome too (was that SMOKE coming off his bow on that last song?). > Great Big Sea was groovy... they're no fruvous by any means > but they're groovy. Yeah, we know Früvous, and they're no Früvous - but what the heck. They're 4 rilly cute Canadian guys; they each play at least a couple of different instruments; they've got some nice energy onstage and at least make an attempt to be friendly to the audience while they're up there. On a couple of the songs if you closed your eyes and pretended real hard, you could hear the similarities... Um, and the long-haired one was standing second from the left. And the one to our far right played 3 cute little button accordions (false- prophet accordions, yes, as opposed to the One True Accordion, but they were still pretty neat) as well as a host of other instruments. It wouldn't hurt him to smile a little more....All in all, it was kind of a Frü-methadone for us poor jonesing Coloradans. > Countdown to TMBG *and* the Violent Femmes: 96 days!!! :P Huh?
