Everyone received a bag of stuff as they entered the convention - it contained a spiffy laminated admission tag, a program/schedule, a map to the various Frü-related sites around town for those who wanted to take a tour (not their homes, all you would-be stalkers), a raffle ticket and a puzzle piece (and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting). There were 4 puzzles set up on two tables in the middle of the room, each an enlarged photo of one of the Lads. Everyone contributed their puzzle pieces to complete the pictures, and at the end of the day they were raffled off. By the way, whoever thought of this - it was a really cool idea! However, if some kind > soul would like to let me in I would be quite appreciative!!! When you came in the door and got your information packet (or rather bag *g*) for the convention, it included one puzzle piece. The Planning Committee, great people that they are, collected 4 really great pictures, one of each band member, and got them enlarged and put onto puzzles. So the piece each of us got corresponded to a piece to one of the puzzles. Each piece had a number on the back showing which it matches with (1-4). For example, I had Dave's face and my friend Andi had a corner to Jian. As people came in, the puzzles started to be completed. Once done, the puzzles were going to be a part of the raffle (where you buy tickets and win great rare Fruprizes like a Wood Poster or Tobey's old jacket). But the puzzles never got done. Dave was missing two pieces from his shoulder. Mike was missing the middle of his hat. And Murray was missing an edge of his shoulder. Jian was completed. So, when Nate found a piece of Dave, he didn't know who won Dave in the raffle. So he posted and Valerie got another piece of Dave (leaving 3 missing pieces now in total I guess). - Chad ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 10 Mar 1999 13:13:36 -0500 From: Chad Maloney Subject: Re: New Album Excitement (was Re: If Only (Re: the many configurations "A.J. It is a wonderful joke! (And BTW it is my favorite song on > Moon) I'm not really familiar with the Ramones myself, but "sinks to the level of the Ramones" sounds like a funny way to compare something. But subtle things like being able to show an influence like that is another way in which I think the band has matured. In order to show their influences, they don't have to cover a song, they can intelligible rephrase influences into their own music. (And BTW Love Set Fire is my favorite song on Moon *grin*) > I guess my point is that nothing on moon is actually any kind of pop. It just SOUNDS > like it. I don't want to pigeonhole music here. I guess songs are pop songs to me whenever I listen to them and get the same sort of feeling other pop songs give me.
