He commented that Jian would probably be great on "Easy People." Sounds like a plan to me! Both bands have a respite from touring right now, so I think a swap would be neat. :) Or instead of a swap, maybe a dual concert where they're both on stage at the same time, doing songs from each other's repertoire. Says Andrea Krause: > I really love that I can go to a non-Früvous show and run >into/see a bunch of Früheads. :) Went to see Jess Klein with the >Nields last night at the Iron Horse in Northampton and we ran into >Adam and Leah, saw Ofer (sp?) from afar (not that he'd likely know who >I am, I'm fairly low-profile and unknown. :) ) It was SO great bumping into leah, Paul, and Andrea at the show. Other than Ofer I didn't know by sight a person there, and was a little nervous about Going To A Show Alone (see, in real life I'm Shy And Retiring). I was sitting by myself at a table in the IH balcony, and when I said it was a table for one, the hostess asked me if it would be okay if she had another single person sit with me. Sure, fine. Always happy to meet new people. Well, about 15 minutes later she leads this woman over to my table. Woman: "Oh, it's **YOU**!!" *smile* Me: "Yes, and it's **YOU*!! *smile* I must confess, I have no idea who you are." Woman: "It's leah, silly!" Me: "Oh! Right! Now I recognize you." hugs, pleasantries, chatting. Boy, did I feel the fool for not recognizing her. leah, I'm so sorry! My memory..well, let's just say I've forgotten how spotty it can be sometimes. :) So after the first set ended we were all herded outside so they could clear the dance floor of the tables and chairs. I'm walking down the street to get to the end of the line when I hear my name called. It's Paul and Andrea! Woo! They had tried to get tickets for the first set too, but it was sold out. :( The four of us (me, leah, Paul, and Andrea) got to sit in one of those nifty couch booths in the balcony with a *great* view of the stage. In the booth next to us was a film crew for the local PBS affiliate - I hope they air the concert footage soon! > Anyway, the show was completely wonderful. It was my first >time seeing the Nields...I already loved them and expected to really >enjoy the show but I had no idea how awesome it would be. :) The >Nields mentioned Moxy and there was quite the cheering response from >various spots around the room. (They even did pretty dead-on >impressions of Jian, Dave, and Mike.) The show was awesome. The Nields rock, bigtime. When TN mentioned Moxy, it was in reference to Nerissa's desire to mount a Godspell production with Fruvous. Nerissa pantomined these reactions: Jian: "um, no." Dave: *nervous heh heh* Mike: o/~ some song from Godspell that I don't know o/~ She left Murray out. I don't know why. Maybe he wouldn't respond to that suggestion? :) I also got to talk with Jess Klein, the opener for each set. She's a sweetie, pure and simple. - --Adam adamh@javanet.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 02 Mar 1999 02:12:30 GMT From: jamn Subject: Re: Jersey 82 cents in lovely allentown pa KatieWow wrote: > you're paying 89 cents for regular? i paid 77 :). and that wasn't even at > one of those infernal wawas. > don't buy gas at wawa! > ~~kate ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 02 Mar 1999 02:01:05 GMT From: vika@ibm.net (Vika Zafrin) Subject: Re: FruCon article, and my explanation. I too have read your article and, though I agree with your bit of self-criticism above (it would've been nice to see some more positive stuff about the Con, but then I'm biased), I found the article respectfully pensive, not at all offensive. You're allowed your own opinion of what went on that weekend, you don't have to apologize to anyone, and for someone who did not have a 100% stellar experience at FruCon, you sure gave this a lot of thought and consideration for the feelings of others. Well said! Very representative as Fruheads, as a whole, I think. We all get something different from Fruvous and I think we all know that. I also think that most of us a very careful about crossing lines and setting good examples. I think that something that may have been overlooked in Anna's article, was the shear numbers of people at Frucon2, as well as the shows last weekend. Whenever that many people of different backgrounds and such get together, there are bound to be differences of opinion. And thought I can't speak for all Fruheads, I do think that most of us are also aware of when the guys are ready to leave or need their space and we respect that. I rarely see incidences like Anna mentioned, with the woman who freaked out about not getting to see Mike. I would just like to state for the record, that I think Moxy Fruvous is a gift to all of us. I think that the time they spend with us after the show is also a present to us and I try to always be aware of that, knowing that at anytime they could decide not to do that anymore. I hope that this doesn't become a sore spot with Fruheads. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I think that Anna deserves credit for not being afraid to put her's out there. Until next.... Hello Fruvous fans. I was inspired by Heather's de-lurking (or is it heather?) and, since I've been reading the ng for a little while now, decided to out myself. My name's Carly (I don't think you have another one of those-phewwww) and I have WXPN to thank for first exposing me to the band just 2 or 3 short months ago... funny story-when I first heard the name of the band I was _convinced_ that fruvous was the name of the football-headed cyclops-plant-thing on the episode of The Monkees that hypnotized people through their TV's until Mickey killed it by rolling canteloupes at it. (does anyone else remember this one?) Hey this explanation is as good as any isn't it? But my hopes of revealing the true origin of the word were dashed when my sister corrected me. Turns out it was the Frotus... Back to introducing myself. I lost my fruginity at the Troc in Feb, completely oblivious to the rude staff. At that point I had no idea that they guys were so friendly and walked right out the door after the music stopped. The music by the way was incredible. When I got back to school and friends asked how the show was, I couldn't hold back a *huge* grin. I think that was enough of an answer. I'd better wrap this up. Is there a record for longest ever first-time post? Anyhow, I just convinced two converts (my first!) to come to falconridge and I'd love to get to know you all (you seem like such a great bunch) so that I'll have even more friends when I get there. Please take me in. I can be a fruhead too, just give me a chance. :) Carly ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V3 #214 ********************************************
