Subject: FruCon article, and my explanation. The editors of Inkblots are probably going to officially announce this tomorrow, but I wanted to take a second to make my own announcement, along with an explanation which I feel is needed. I wrote an article, an opinion piece, on my feelings on FruCon. The title of the article (Not Exactly Fan Heaven) wasn't chosen by me, but it came undoubtedly from statements I made in the piece. That statement in itself is probably grounds for the majority of the people who read this ng (perhaps the band, even) to find some problem with me. FruCon *is* fan heaven. The principle of it is amazing, and the fact that it has had such success two years in a row, is even more amazing. For various personal reasons (which I don't really feel like going into right here) it simply wasn't *my* type of scene. This is what I chose to wrote about. I am very afraid that the piece comes out sounding like an attack on the con, and even worse, an attack on the fans. I want people who read it to understand that isn't my intention at all. I had a great time in Toronto last weekend, I should have made that more clear in the article. I met a lot of awesome people too, which I should have made abundantly more clear. I didn't do either of those things, but it's too late now. Please read the article and understand that it isn't an attack. It's a series of observations and opinions. Not attacks. If I seem somewhat obsessed with explaining this, it's because of how much I appreciate and am continually impressed by the coolness of everyone involved in Moxy Fruvous. This obviously includes the band, and most definitely the fans. It would upset me a lot if people were to think otherwise. As a huge fan myself, I would hate to feel like I was "betraying my own". So, read the article (and Lisa's too! She got quotes!) and please keep this explanation in mind. And if you want to talk about it, there is a link to my email with the article, I'd be more then happy to explain further. the url is: http://www.dreamsbay.com (just follow the links to the FruCon articles, it's pretty simple!) And if I'm just overreacting and being paranoid...ignore me :) Thanks for letting me get that off my chest. nervously, - -anna- http://www.eccentrica.org/elements - -----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Own ------------------------------ Date: 1 Mar 1999 04:27:23 GMT From: srm9988n@aol.com.LoriM (Srm9988n) Subject: Re: Brown is better Our noble mistress Kate declared: >ahem . . . most drama queens wouldn't go near drama majors. drama queens >are a different breed entirely, and don't often go near such things as >theaters :). well, yeah. >as a theatre-person, i felt obliged to make the distinction, though i do >understand your astute combination of lisa's epithets :).
