I talk too > much) I'll take the opportunity to share at this point... Following 'You will go to the Moon' on Saturday, after the clapping and all, someone standing near me shouts out, "Way to go, Murray!". To this, Jian responses something along the lines of, "Dave stands up here under the lights sweating to death, singing HIS heart out with a song HE wrote for you! And what thanks do you give HIM? 'Way to go, MURRAY!' Well, you're a f*cker!" And continues bashing this guy... After another line or two Jian decides to go with the statement and says, "Actually, that was going to be the name of our new album, 'Way to go, Murray'" And then, as Früvous tends to do, they start improving a song about Murray. And there he is, Murray, standing over there on the side blushing... After a verse or two and a chorus, Jian moved on to a verse about Dave. Chorus again then a verse about Mike. Then Jian (I think) shouts out "You know the chorus, sing it!" and the audience does. Ended with a verse about Jian. After this 'song', Dave says into the microphone, "For those people seeing us for the first time, they think they're seeing a self-absorbed group..." hehehe, the song kicked butt basically... pretty damn good too. later, tom. Victoria remeber you aked for this so i hope this enough details to atleast help a little. It was so much fun to spend it Kim Sucy and Kris De Hond. we got to the Ramada about 3:30,checked in-yada,yada and about 5:00 went to dinner at a place called "Auntie Emm's" I would definately not eat their again(45 minets to get sandwiches!)then off to LEE's.We got there at about 6:30 and waited till-almost 8:30,we really wanted to be stage Dave the show was great Sarah was a _really _ nice choice for the opener and the frulads were great -- I really needed a frufix anhow i won't re-post the set lists here but i will say that i _loved_ "Too Carefull" - i don't hear it enough .we hung out for a while after word to say hi and Jian was just so sweet it amazed me,Dave as always was sweet and kind and Murray was really glad to get the cookies i sent to him via Tobey during sound check (yeah-we were inside for the legnth of one drink before tobey asked that we wait outside- sound check was awesome too) I didn't get a chance to say hi to Mike - He left too quickly. Saturday we slept till 10 or 11 got up and I went shopping for birthday presents for Dave and Jude (books for both "The Little Prince" for Jude and "Snow Falling on Cedars" for Dave) I got back in just under an hour and just before the 'Con it was Great I had a ball -even if I did spend most of my time hiding in a corner away from the teeming masses (Thanks Jen for being so gracious ) at one it was my turn to volunteer at the entry desk- with Chad Schrock and Drea and Laurie A - it was nice being involved(i happen to be one of the shyest folks around) and a lot of fun to boot! the panels were great and the guys from Bottom Line were enthusiatic about helping us understand their jobs better and willing to share info on how to spread the "fruvous gospel"they even gave us their e-mail addy if we wanted more info (blinereq@aol.com for any takers) any how I think the highlight of the con had to be the two little boys who did their own rendition of I Love My Boss" I thought Jian was going to fall of his chair laughing another touching moment was when the frulads presented Chris O'malley with Jian's snare drum as sort of a thank you for all his efforts of their behalf - a very classy gesture guys. I only caught a few of the videos due to timing concerns - but i enjoyed what i saw and am jealous of any one with those videos after the con we went to dinner -pizza pizza in line at lee's Freezing again and major disapointment here we couldn't get our stage Dave spots cuz folks were in ahead of us even though we were first in line (don't aske me how i still don't understand that one) once again i was freezing when we got in and sicker than sick ( walking pneumonia-not fun ,but i would not have missed it for the world!) this time it was Susan Werner opening -She Rocked!!! she got an encore a! ! nd i have to say she sounds better on stage than on my freind's cd -and i loved the cd any how Susan's a sweetheart -friendly and enjoyable to talk too -a killer sense of humour too! The frulads were there wonderful selves and by this time i was so sick my legs collapsed under me between sets - but by the first couple of songs the guys had me singing along -even if i couldn't dance -that's ok i tend to hurt people when i try to dance anyhow --- I am definately rhythmically impaired! anyhow afterthe show we again hung out to say hi to the guys and I wanted to give Dave his present --he didn't come out for the longest time ,but Jian went and got him for me (thanks,Jian!),so icould give it to him - he was really sweet about it -he always is we arrived home about 3 and crashed! Sun. we got up about 11 and walked to China Town with acouple of stops along the way - I bougt about a ton and a half of candy that we cann't get in Buffalo, and wandered the malls and i made a quick stop at my herbalist for various things that folks sent me for and then off to dinner and fruland(aka Lee's) Kris came with us in both sat and sun to listen to sound check because they "wouldn't" let kids in at first they said something to him but he explained to the bartender thart he had come from buffalo and couldn't go to the shows because of the age thing and this was his only opportunity to see the guys and she was kind enough to let him stay and go inside to hear - Kris got to see both the sat and sunday sound checks after Kris left sunday this little kid- about 11 or so came with his folks - his dad was Dr Henry Morganthaler a big wig in the ontario abortion rights movement and he got in -boy were we pissed - so the kid's dad is famous why does the kid get special and ille! ! agal privilges? If it's illeagal for Kris to be there and it's illeagal for Jackie to be there what makes this kid exempt -KIm said something to the bartenders and the woman who was so nice to Kris made a deal out of it to her boss -but if it did any good who knows as far as the show it started with tory - he was great as usual -anyone out there know the name of the song he wrote with Dave? then Sarah a great set from her and then Susan she rocked the house again - that girl is something! And then the guys a good show even if they did play several songs at at least two of the shows - think i counted 8 or 9 repeats -although i can listen to IWHO at every show and not get sick of it anyhow we stayed to say hi(again!)and thank the guys for a great week end and left -we weren't going home til monday so Kris and i stayed up 'til all hours being goofy and stuff and i finally got to bet about 4 -when we left monday wishing the weekend could continue! thanks to all involved with frucon2 it was great and thanks for letting me help ! andi - -- > > Get your FREE Email at http://mailcity.lycos.com Get your PERSONALIZED START PAGE at http://personal.lycos.com ------------------------------ Date: 24 Feb 1999 01:17:42 GMT From: fruwench@aol.com (FruWench) Subject: Re: FruCon T's, Moments & the 5th Frvous I know she did Bonsai at least once. But my >concert pictures didn't come out at all... trust me, eric, i can commiserate 100%. bad pictures suck, no two bits about it. i'm a compulsive photographer in meaningful situations (read: celebrations, vacations, fruvous concerts, etc...), and i rely, as many do, on the pictoral images to conjure up the sensations of the experience itself. well, my fruvous pics from NKU were *awful*. i chalk that up to 200 speed film & great distance w/o flash. i'll always associate that tremendously wonderful show with terrible photography... i upgraded my film to 400 speed for new year's, & that seemed to work well. almost all of my pics turned out great. so, i went to the dayton show feeling pretty confident in my photography skills, & being about 3-5 feet away from my subjects, i figured they'd turn out fine. wrong. they weren't as awful as NKU, but nowhere near the quality as new year's. the lesson? i was *sitting down* at the bottom line, *standing* at canal street. i figure i moved & didn't feel it, hence the blurriness. solution? i'm getting a new camera. ;p not just 'cause of this; it's got several annoying features & i'll need my own for college. question: does anyone know if "auto-focus" features are any good? heck, can anyone recommend some high-quality but transportation-friendly cameras, period? particularly ones that would work well in dark, indoor, flashless situations... ^kat^ "in an interstellar burst i am back to save the universe" http://fly.to/the.midway.after.dark p.s. eric, go here: http://www.geocities.com/Broadway/Stage/4014/fruvousNKU/badfru.jpg it might make you feel better. *grin* ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Feb 1999 20:54:31 -0500 From: "KatieWow" Subject: Re: Way to go, Murray did i miss the jian verse? i thought they ended it without one. also, on sunday night, sarah slean came out to sing with the band, and someone else yelled "way to go murray!" to which caitlin, colleen (i think), and i responded "way to go sarah!" it was great in general :). ~~kate - -- kate leahy kleahy@loyola.edu everybody loves a happy ending but we don't even try we go straight past pretending to the part where everyone loves to cry - --elvis costello ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Feb 1999 02:27:17 GMT From: "valerie jones" Subject: Re: Way to go, Murray i found out after the show that this "f*cker" was the wonderful brent of toronto -- the kindhearted soul who spent his weekend ensuring that all the out-of-towners made it to lee's, there, and everywhere. i'd thanked him profusely earlier in the night for all his time, tips, and thoughtfulness. very funny that he turned out to be such a badman. :) btw, thanks so much for all your help and time, brent (you f*cker!). :) ~valerie Thomas Fazzio wrote in message <36D34C64.BB3687A@wckn.clarkson.edu>... >Following 'You will go to the Moon' on Saturday, after the clapping and all, >someone standing near me shouts out, "Way to go, Murray!".
