They are fab looking t's. Big points to the designers (whose names slip me - straighten me out on that one). Pretty extraordinary weekend. The shows were some of the most memorable ever. It's funny that I never put Susan Werner & Moxy together. She's REALLY the Fifth Früvous, when you think about it. I mean, she's loaded: musical chops, great songwriting, improv's on the fly, tres drole .... Good Lord, she floors me everytime. There's only one other band that does that. Anyone? Anyone? I laid rather low among you all you this weekend, but I enjoyed the abundant general warmth that was going around. I was feeling OLD tho, so I tended to keep to myself, or run to Rosemary every so often. There were a few moments that will long linger for me. One was on Saturday, when Moxy gave Chris O'Malley Jian's snare drum. That was just .... too cool. I think we all got a little teary eyed on that one. Another was a few minutes later (or before?) when those two kids sang "I Love My Boss." Was that, like, a scream? Was ANYONE rolling tape on that? And lastly, I FINALLY met Rosemary, after a 3+ year faceless E-mail Exchange Program. That soon turned into a Huggie Huggie Huggie Exchange. Now just HOW MANY people were crashing at her place? Anyway, those were a few tidbits. Y'all are good people. The plot (such as it is) concerns a sucessful 60's band (Eddie And The Cruisers) that breaks up when its lead singer (Eddie) dies. But Eddie isn't dead; he couldn't take the pressures of stardom and so faked his death so he could move to Montreal and become a construction worker. (Hey, why not?) Thirty years later, Eddie decides to start another band. Predictable chaos ensues. Dave--sporting an astonishing amount of hair--plays the keyboardist for the band. He has exactly one line ("I know! I'm sorry.") but a few closeups. He doesn't appear until about halfway through the movie, so make liberal use of your fast-forward button. - --nicole twn *** "I dreamed I went to heaven 'cause I told my lover lies."--Moxy Fruvous Visit Nicolopolis! http://wwwcsif.cs.ucdavis.edu/~carlsonn Reply-to address is INCORRECT! Lori Kris Kris Ok then, that is all my small little mind can come up with at the moment. I probably have a bunch of it wrong, but I tried :) Friday 19th, get off school and head down to the Ramada to meet up with the people that were going to be meeting to go to Lee's from there, I of course, miss them, I also manage to mistake someone reading the message board for a FruHead, and embarress myself by asking "are you wearing purple socks," but whatever says I, and I move out to Lee's. The lineup is fairly short at the time, around 6:30, 7:00, and I go to meet people, I managed to say 'hi' to a few people, a shocker for me :), but mostly (ok, so... all) people that I saw at TONYE and the Basketball game the night before. I wait at the doors until the end of the line, where I talk with some other Underagers, and wait until the line is done to go and plead with the bouncer. No chance of that happening, so the review for this portion is done (unless you want a run-down on what happened on South Park :). (Oh, thanks again Rosemary for the ticket, even if I didn't get in) Saturday 20th, the Con get up at 10:00 and have an un-eventful trip to the Ramada, and say hi to the few people that I know that were there. Then I went in, sat down, and started reading through the propaganda.... whoops, paraphenalia :).... well... the pamphlet's :). Planning on what to do, then I went around to look at all the different stuff, decided to leave off trying to solve the questions for the crossword for a little late, it was early, and my brain was numb :). Checked out the fanart table, some amazingly kickass stuff, went to by the first 10$ worth of tickets for the day. Then I gravitated towards the IRC connection, which was just being connected up. That reminds me... That screensaver with the FruCon 2 logo, any chance of that becoming available on FDC, cause I want it :). Then I went to the Crossword puzzle, and I actually thought I had one, "On which cd did fruvous play along with the Rheostatics," since I noticed it on the Raffle table, I was sure that it was NOMEGA, makes sense right? Of course I manage to be wrong :). After I while of trying to guess some, and actually getting some right, I go over to find out where my puzzle piece goes (for those who didn't know, there were 4 jigsaw puzzles, one for each of the guys, and everyone got a piece when they got in. I got this nice day-glow yellow piece, so I check at the table asking a few people 'which one has a day-glow yellow shirt?' it turns out to be a boring backdrop, and I can't even remember who it was. After this I saw that the channel was set up and Jen was behind the computer, so I went to see who was online, pretty empty, just Arbie was on. I then went over to the sing-along, and... well... sang along. Repeat these things for a while and you have a general gist of what I did, include a small portion of staring down at 'the Cat' Pixel's car... Whoah... and the Science Video, I wish we had that in my Science class... :) Then there was the Q/A's, then the guys came on. A bunch of speeches, of which I can remember nothing except for Jian saying "Yes I do like the Dave Matthews Band." and something about his scent :). Then they started drawing for the raffles, my $30 of tickets got me nothing but a sympathy story, my $20 set of tickets went from 80-85... the winner from the dumbek, 86, but I'll survive. Other then that, I would say that is it for the FruCon review (my note: My god, I never had any idea how long it was to write one of these things, and this is a fairly small one.... I'm shocked that people do this so often.) Saturday 20th, The Concert After waiting from the end of the Con, till 7, when the "Risque Fruheads" meet to travel to Lee's, we all get going to Lee's, with some tourist stuff from Brent (I have decided that if I ever need to know anything about Toronto, I will ask him). We get there at about 7:30, after a fairly long time in line with some "It's getting cold, let me in" following the "Do you want to know, tell us king" routine, there was a large amount of Monty Python lines spread about, and we start on the way in, I find out though, that the show is sold out, and I don't have a ticket, so I start on my way out, saying good bye. Then I meet up with the people I talked to after not getting into last nights show, so we start talking again, and it seems that a person that they were talking to has an extra ticket, so I buy it, and get in line. I manage to get in by sneaking in behind some nice people who were my "parents" for the night, and made it in to the show, yippie!!! I spend the next 5-10 minutes (after getting my card stamped), seeking out people that I know, and doing the whole 'hey, you got in! cool!" bit ok then!!!!! My time ran out on my school's eMail thing, so I got no time to finish this. I'll just respond to one of the setlists with my comments....
