She thought that Jian is Paul, Mike is John, Murray is George, and Dave is Ringo. Thoughts on this? I don't know the Beatles all that well, but she finally convinced me that Jian should be Paul and not John because at the time Paul was considered "the cute one." It was in fact animated, and was pretty good quality too. I had forgotten about Poochie (I think that was his dog at home in Spain?). Sebastian goes to France to find his mother, crossing the Pyranese Mountains on the way...that's where he teams up with Belle. The show was wonderful, and definitely had an anime look to it. I remember watching it _every_ day. I haven't found anything on the web about "Belle and Sebastian" other than websites for the band (perhaps this is where they got there name?) >> line, anyone remember The Seven Cities of Gold which i believe was on around >> that time too?? Funny you should mention this one. There are a handful of websites for it (search for "Mysterious Cities of Gold" in Yahoo), and I just sent away some blank videotapes to get the entire 39 episode series. It was a French and Japanese collaboration...great animation, AWESOME story. The main child (Estaban) could summon the sun whenever he wanted, and he goes to the New World (the show was set in the early 1500's) to find his father. I plan to subject Vika to the entire series once I get them ;-) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chris O'Malley http://www.fruvous.com 'Tattoo Fru' webmaster@fruvous.com "I like being a pretzel with you..." ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 01 Feb 1999 15:39:58 -0600 From: Josh Drury Subject: Re: Fru-Articles: Dayton loves the lads! This article was not too well researched. Gold in Canada is 50 000, and Platinum is 100 000. I don't think there are close to half a million copies of the indie tape out. I'm >gonna take an hour or so to indulge myself in it...it'd better be good. Okay, so I read it. I promised a (brief) review, so here it is. Funny book. Terribly odd. I think I enjoyed Holidays on Ice more. It (Holidays) was more "laugh-out-loud" funny, and less "look-at-the-absurdity-of-life" funny. Not that I don't appreciate the latter, just that I was expecting the former. I am also less than thrilled with bodily humor, which seems to pop up a lot in Naked (no puns intended blah blah blah). Now, there were SEVERAL stories in Naked that just made me laugh my bootie off (A Plague of Tics, for example) and I enjoyed it mucho. Can anyone tell me if Barrel Fever is more like Naked or more like Holidays? I'll read it anyway, but I just want to know what to expect. What are anyone else's thoughts?
