Hey, I have a question for any of you Canadian folks who see and can respond to this. Christmas season is crazy in the U.S., and I think one of the reasons is that right after Thanksgiving (4th Thursday in November) people begin to panic. That happens to be when some of us punctually challenged people start to think about Christmas. Since Thanksgiving is earlier in Canada, do you think it relieves some of the pressure, or (insofar as you can judge) is it just as crazy as here? melanie (who's lobbying for Christmas to be changed to January 25) melanie@redeemer-cincy.org Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 17 Dec 1999 18:33:24 -0500 From: "Tim Deegan" Subject: coincidency? methinks not today we had a dress-down day (ah the joys of catholic schools) and i wore my früvous jersey. i had many people staring cuz they had no idea what the hell this little guy is on the front. after a while, when people asked i just said "it's a band symbol, it's weird, too hard to explain" but said that they're a good band. :) but here's the fun part. i was sitting in my spanish class, my teacher walks in, looks at me, and says "is that a moxy früvous shirt? i *love* them!" yaaaaaay! this is the third teacher at my school that i have found who likes früvous. woohoo!! a funny note, one girl didn't understand the correlation between Canadians and hockey... *sigh* and she's supposed to be the SMART one... : D ~Maggie "We're all gonna screw up" ~ Mr. Ditzel ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 17 Dec 1999 19:01:00 -0500 From: "JSL/MHP" Subject: Re: Anyone Else Frustrated? I work in retail (at a Canadian department store called The Bay) and although I don't know how crazy Christmas shopping can be in the U.S., I can tell you that it has been getting pretty nutso here. I have found that there are some people who begin their Christmas shopping in late October or early November, but most of the people (myself included...I still need to find presents for my niece and nephew...sigh) put it off until a few weeks before Dec. 25. I just chalk it up to procrastination (considering that's why I don't do my shopping until mid-December).
