Okay, so I'm gonna add what we do here in the exciting suburb of Bothell, Washington. I am single. So are, interestingly, most of my friends. It's just this thing, I guess. Well, anyway, come Valentine's Day, for the last several years, we have celebrated together. We round up every single person in our circle'o'friends and we get totally dressed up. I mean, *to the nines.* Hardcore. All the girls primp for a long time and stuff, and the guys wear ties (hey, when we were in highschool, this was particularly amazing). Then, we go to Las Margaritas. Every year. Getting a table for 15 in there on Valentine's Day is *really* funny, lemme tell you. We all meet up there and gorge ourselves on fatty, spicy Mexican food. Yum. Then, we go to this one guy's house and lounge around and watch movies like Evil Dead I, II, and Army of Darkness. We're all musical dorks, so we go downstairs into the guy's studio and mess around for a while, and we play boardgames till the sun comes up. It is a wonderful celebration, and we always come away loving the holiday cause it's an excuse to be frivolous and weird with our friends (like we need an excuse). So I say, "Hail St. Valentine's Day! We eagerly await your arrival!" Heather Moore (who, for the record, has never had what one might call a "romantic" Valentine's Day and is perfectly fine with that, thankyouverymuch.) ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. Well anyway, the car gets hit my under aged drivers or Ryder vans (when I was in it...why I hate driving or even being in cars! As I said before, I've longed to have a very mediocre car and call it the Wanker Mobile (Family definition: Wanker: noun: something or some one that is exceptionally crappy). Upon my 16th birthday I had a small red velvet box sitting on my bread plate when I came downstairs for dinner. The pearl earrings I'd basically demanded? No. A set of keys to the 1978 Buick LeSabre my sister had been driving up till now. And a set of duplicate keys to something else. A 1991 Pontiac Grand Prix my mom had just bought that afternoon. The Pontiac was *her* new car, and her old Chrysler was handed down to the older sister when I got the Buick. Up until that point, this powder-blue car had been cranky, which I took to be because of his lack of name. He was definitely male... this wasn't an occasional crankiness (PMS) but rather, a very seriously bad temper. He became Bert, with a little work from me. As in Bert and Ernie, because Bert was always the pessimist who was rather set in his ways, and had to have things just so. Such was the Buick... I tried rushing him one morning while running late, only to have a tire blow out while attempting to drive over the ridge left by the snowplows. Oy. Those were the days. Guess they're not meant as bumper-stickers per se, more as decals for books and whatnot. At any rate, Esmerelda and the Cushy Cozy FruCar of Bliss each wore one of these things for approximately 3 weeks, after which they (the stickers, not the vehicles) were a sad and dreary sight indeed: peeling off whole, and miserably faded. I don't know about the state question, but here's a tangent of my own... Several years ago (the day may have just been made a holiday in our state, or something) one of the high schools in my home town issued this rule: All black students would be allowed to take the day off, no questions asked. White students who also wished to commemorate the holiday by staying home from school were welcome to do so - as long as they had a note of permission from their parents. They've just dumped Murray Mclaughlin who was the host for most of its existence, so at the moment they're playing Host Roulette. According to Jude, the host for the night Jian is on will be Jaymz Bee (believe me folks you are going to want to see this) and the topic is "Does Being in Politics Make You a Liar?" or something like that. I can't leave Guelph until 3:45 which will give me oh.. 15 mins to get from Dundas station all the way northeast to Don Mills and Eglinton. At rush hour. They said latecomers would be accomodated..
