But my question is: do you think that people > are scared to eat stuff I bake for them? because it never really occured > to me. Oddly enough, the confectioners were discussing this in NYC, maybe because of that fine city's rep for having a few loose wingnuts. I gave Tobey a can of assorted treats Friday night, and I had put my name on a tag, so they'd know *where* they came from. But he asked what it was, and that got me thinking. They don't know me; they've met me a few times, but how many thousands of other people have they met? If they read the ng, they might recognize my name as someone who posts a lot; I have a chatting acquaintance with Tobey. But is that enough for them to really trust me? If I were them, I think I'd wonder. I think it may be a little uncomfortable for a band, or any other celebrity, to accept gifts like this, especially if they don't know you from Adam. I mean yeah, everyone likes goodies of some sort, but there are a lot of warped people out there too. It's kind of like Halloween candy in a way -- you assume most people are giving treats out of the motivation of having fun and making the recipient happy, but there's always that niggling little paranoid thought in the back of your head. Anyway, I'm just wondering if MF is reaching a level where maybe this is getting a little chancy for them. I mean, I like baking, for my family and my friends and myself and the guys too, but I don't want to make anyone feel like I'm forcing them to accept something maybe they're not sure of. And as they get bigger they may not be able to keep track of who it is giving them this stuff -- and if I were in that position I know it would worry ME. it's a shame, but that's the reality of this world, and how people relate especially to those who are prominent for one reason or another So I don't know what to do about it, but yes it's something to consider, with some thought for their comfort level as well as for our own desire to give them something back. I guess that doesn't really help you, Lizzie, but yes, others are also thinking about this. - -- Lori *********************** "fru gud me sleep now" -- Dante B.
