Not that I did that of course... There's actually a number of >them already there. *heehee* yeah, like when i saw "tenderloin steak" as a pre-named choice for "food," i couldn't help but think fruvously. here's my crack at it, which actually turned out rather amusingly (& it didn't occur to me that "beat" rhymes w/ "eat" until *after* i read the results...): "You do not beat earl grey tea and pork tenderloin?" I do not beat them, jian-I-am. "Could you, would you, with a beatle?" I would not, could not, with a beatle! "Would you, could you, on a van?" I could not, would not, on a van. I will not, will not, with a beatle. I will not jump them in the sleet. I will not jump them on a bicycle. Not in the dawn! Not in a ladle! Not in a streetcar! You let me be! I do not beat them in a (present tense) tureen. I do not beat them with a pisco bandito. I will not jump them in a treefort. I do not beat them with a cat. I do not beat them here or there. I do not beat them ANYWHERE! I do not beat earl grey tea and pork tenderloin! I do not beat them, jian-I-am. - -- Corrupted excerpt from "Green Eggs and Ham," by Dr. Seuss. yay. that was fun. now i've gotta go find it on tape & listen to it... ^kat^ "it's like NPR: you want to turn it off, but you can't." - --fruvous, 7/30/98 ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Dec 1998 04:04:06 GMT From: Srm9988n@aol.com Subject: Re: Concert Melmak.... a bewildered Matt James said, >HUH Can anyone translate this to English I could, but what's the point Matt? Daddy strangely enough, in the early church, the word priest referred to anyone who lead religious services; this ministerial function was often carried out by a woman. later, the traditional role of christian priest and jewish rabbi kind of melded and what came out was a male priest. the roman catholic church decided that that was law (can't remember when). the most recent pope has put a moratorium on even *discussing* the issue of women and the priesthood, though every school i've ever been to (all of them catholic) have held classroom discussion on the topic. anyway, the no-marriage thing is most often explained by saying that it is unfair to ask a man to devote himself entirely to God and to a family at the same time. it's unfair to the man, the parish, and the family. however, in some remote dioceses, married men and even women say mass, as there is no ordained priest to do it. officially, it's a matter of doctrine, but practically, it's often a matter of availability. ~~kate ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Dec 1998 03:38:58 GMT From: tmbgirl@juno.com Subject: random thoughts hEY HEY kiddies... A few things as i finally catch up with all these posts i've missed ... I was recently listening to a song called "nobody's fault but my own" off of Beck's latest cd, *Mutations* (i'd highly recommend it... different for beck). anyways, a couple of my co-workers heard it and were convinced that it was the Frulads singing. They refused to believe me until i showed them the cd itself. :) Someone mentioned a date in Cali... is there any chance we'll be seeing them in the rocky mtn. region? hehee... sure we're right between LA and windsor... *cheesygrin* :D Unfortunately it doesn't look like i'll be making it out to Frucon II (like i'd hoped) as i'm totally broke from the last time i tried unsuccessfully to see 'em in NYC at irving plaza back in november (damn the malfunctioning plane! no actually, i'm quite glad to be alive and hey, i'd never been to milwaukee before, so crash landing there had it's perks.) I can only hope that the lads will make their way back to CO, or the vicinity, in the near future. i'd wish everyone a happy holiday season, but instead i'll wish you all a very happy canadian boxing day... which i really don't have a clue as to what it is or what happens on cbd... just that it falls on my b-day every year :) i think it's st. stephen's day as well... take it easy, JOrdaN http://www2.netcom.com/~arnot/joda/bootlegs.html CO kiddies... go see my buds... Five Iron Frenzy for a skankin good NYE @ Aztlan theater... :) ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. What a lovely little pome! I especially liked the flying budgie-dogs. Hope Christmas is really that good to you two and the gorgeous kitties! "a quiet young man in a loud orange shirt" delivering Christmas goodies. That's a vision I can live with for awhile. :) - -- Lori-murrmaid (who apparently now has her own hotel in Vegas. hmmm. of all the places in the world that I could fantasize about having a hotel, that's about the last one that'd come to mind, Nicole. oh well!) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Dec 1998 04:12:31 GMT From: Srm9988n@aol.com Subject: 12 days of Christmas (not a Fru-spoof) Heather said, >See, in my family, we're SUPER >Liturgically Correct (hello, priest for a dad), and we observe all twelve >days. We take our tree down on Epiphany (6 Jan, for those that don't >know - it's when we [Catholics, Episcopalians especially, and some other >folk...] observe the arrival of the Wise Men). We undeck the tree on or after Jan. 6, NEVER before. I also try not to put the wise guys at the manger before then (at least on those of my nativities that have a)movable pieces and b) wise guys.) I got this tradition from my highly Catholic godfather. We also keep our holiday lights on every night until at least the 6th. >We sing Christmas carols >ALL THROUGHOUT these last days of December and first days >of January. This sounds truly nice -- maybe we'll try it this year! (psst ... hey guys ... carol singalong on line at the Bottom Line? Whaddaya say?) - -- Lori, who likes traditions that are authentic and make sense, amid all the glitter and tinsel and credit-card debt that so many mistake for the holidays. And that's all I'm going to rant about that. :) ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V2 #151 ********************************************
