You've to the right place for that *grin* First of all, I'll point you at http://www.fruvous.com. It answers a whole lot of questions and has the FAQ for the newsgroup on it. Not that your question is a FAQ, but just in case you got some other burning questions like "Hmmm, I wonder what songs the band played on July 31st, 1997". Fruvous.com (FDC for those in the know *wink* *wink*) is the place to find those answers. As for your questions, I'd say none of the above myself. You Will Go to the Moon isn't really Bargainville or Wood to me. It isn't as down to earth as Wood (hence You Will Go to the Moon? *grin*), but it doesn't give up on the musical density of Wood. The music is complex like Wood, but used in a different, more diverse way. Where Wood was a bunch of tunes that were dark and with a fair amount of realism (though sometimes hidden), Moon varies with a driving pop song, a middle-eastern style song, a couple great slow ones, a couple a capella tunes with the Fruvous-style humor that you know and love from Bargainville but with more style underneath (the title track is kinda swing acapella and Kick in the Ass along with Lazy Boy is one of their most complex acapella pieces to me), plus other tunes that are staples of the live show. Most of the tracks on Moon aren't as realistic and in my opinion as personable as the tracks on Wood. Lee and Love Set Fire are the most Wood-y songs to me. But that's just my opinion on things. You own opinions may vary. But I'd definitely recommend picking up Moon when you get a chance. Live Noise covers some of the Moon tunes they do live, but there are things on Moon that you don't wanna miss. Lee, Love Set Fire, and Sahara most of all. Oh, and you can buy "b" sometime too if you like the satirical funny songs... - Chad ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Nov 1998 18:42:04 GMT From: Srm9988n@aol.com Subject: Things to do in Toronto Tall Chad advised: >We'd love to hear anything you make up involving Fruvous. It represents a segment of the Moxy Fruvous fan community. The purpose of this newsgroup is not to publicise the band, or further their careers. What it does is provide a forum for Fruvous fans to interact with each other. As such, posts on any topic of interest to members of this community are "on topic" IMO. If newcomers do not like the things we are talking about, they can either start new topics more to their liking, and not bother to read ours, or they can go elsewhere. In either case it is no skin off my nose. What effect our posts here have on the band is frankly none of our business or concern. This is our newsgroup. If Jian wants to point people to it either because he thinks it is good for the band or because he thinks that it would be good for said people, that is his choice. But that in now way obliges us to behave in any particular way. A.J. - ----------------------------------------------- FREE! I love the beginning of KitA, and follwing what Mur does with his part is a lot of fun. I love the way the voices build up and all come together. This is a silly little song on the surface, but it's anything but a throw-away. Listening to KitA lately, I've been considering how much could be done with the arrangement of Johnny Saucep'n. I can't imagine that a different arrangement would be easy at such a fast pace, but think how cool it'd be if (ugh, I'd have to do some serious counting to get this exactly right) during the chorus, one voice or another dropped out a certain times. They've got the speed and the timing down on Saucep'n, this piece, which is similar to KitA in its silliness, might be ready for the fine-tuning that will make it a true showstopper. The textural effect would be stunning, like a roller-coaster ride for four voices. The complexity of the structure of the syllables would support the kind of arrangement I'm thinking of, which I could write out, but which would be long and very boring to most people.
