They were touring in support of their 2nd album, the one with 25 or 624 and Saturday in the park etc. Right after they were forced to change their name from Chicago Transit Authority. We got our ticket late and were actually seated behind the band. The best show I ever saw was Earth, Wind & Fire. They had a stage show featuring two illusions created for them by Doug Henning and between the bright Aztec inspired costumes and the incredible brass section and the harmonies... wow. So last tuesday (the 10th), i dragged myself out of bed at around 5am and headed to Denver International Airport with the intentions of being in NYC that evening and heading over to Irving Plaza to catch the frushow... I almost died on this trip. Our plane had to make an emergency landing in Milwaukee which was needless to say an exciting bit of business. So we're sitting in this parking lot in Milwaukee for hours when they tell us, we're going back up in the air and going to Chicago. Great. So i arrive in chicago at 5 pm only to find out that the only flight to the east coast that they can book me on is to Providence, RI the next morning. erg! so i got on the subway/train thing they've got out there in Chicago and headed out to Loyola University campus and spent the night on the floor of my sister's dorm room. woo was i glad that she lived there! :) Anyways, early the next morning i headed back to the airport to catch the plane to providence. Then i went to the train station where i sat for a good 2 hours and waited for a train into NYC. I finally arrived there on the 11th at about 7pm. a bit late, eh? i think i deserve some frumiles for this... i mean, i'm currently broke cuz i spent all my money on planes/trains/subways/taxis/etc. i almost died on the way (that should be some bonus points in itself!) and what do i have to show for it? nothing. i didn't even get to hear 'em :( Ah well, i got to see NYC for the first time which was super cool :) take it easy, JOrdaN http://www2.netcom.com/~arnot/joda/bootlegs.html ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. This reminds me of a song that came out during their heyday. Not sure who it was though it might have been Arrogant Worms??? It was to the tune of "Gramma got run over by a reindeer" and went like this: "New Kids got run over by a reindeer, All the little children are in shock. Now there's no more annoying high falsetto..ooww (cough, cough) Now there's no more New Kids on the Block" I won't bore you with all the verses but there was one great line about how they all ended up mounted on Rudolph's wall "Hangin' Tough" Then Heather and Krista said: > SIGH. I am proud to say that I am NOT >> similarly infatuated with the carbon-copied boy groups of today (5, >> NSYNC, Boyzone, Backstreet Boys, 98Degrees...ad infinitum). >Nope, either am I. After all, those groups are marketing to the >eight-year-old females of today, not to us. We've already done our time >in the jail of banal, emotionless music. I'm curious. Do you put Boyz2Men in that cluster of groups? Just asking.
