Maybe it is because MPT puts it on so late, my brain can't comprehend that sort of thing at that time of the morning... - -- chad at radix dot net "Just remember, the cubicle is a coffin with e-mail." --Mike Ford, Moxy Fruvous ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 14 Nov 1998 03:38:35 GMT From: katiewow@my-dejanews.com Subject: Talk about Gulf War Moments . . . (Hint--you can tell I am in a rather serious mood when I type using caps). To everyone (newsgroup and other places)-- We're at that freaky spot in time again, when the United States has chosen (though how much choice do we really have?) to flex our proverbial muscles, to put away the diplomatic smile , furrow our brow, and give Saddam Hussein a good talking to. Like the stern father of the UN family, we've planned a Party-of-Five-esque intervention with the misguided child that is Iraq. No matter what your stance or mine is on war or Iraq or anything, I think we can all agree that this is a serious downer in a year that has been, for all intents and purposes, pretty great. John Glenn goes to space, two good guys share a gleeful race for a baseball title, the Yankees win the series, (some) American corporations exhibit understanding of and care about human rights by pulling out of Burma . . . and then something like this. So, I encourage you all to pop "Gulf War Song" into your players, and say a prayer or have a meditation--whatever it is your prefer; think about the men who are travelling to Iraq as we speak, think about our legislators, and pray or hope that this situation comes to a peaceable resolution. Pray or hope that someday songs like "Gulf War Song" (as much as we love it) will lose their meaning. Then, go watch a muppet movie. As serious as things are, and as precarious as this time is, life is about joy--we can't let ourselves forget that. Always remember that no matter how bad things get, they can get better. We have two basic choices in life--we can be happy or we can be miserable. I can't speak for any of you, but your dedication to Früvous leads me to believe that you place great value in joy. Songs like "Gulf War Song" are certainly valuable and important, but so are songs like "King of Spain." Let Früvous be example to us all--the world is a serious place, but there are two many people who don't know that it's also fun and exciting and joyful. Remember what it was like to be a kid and not be afraid of things like war and fighting. When the world can do that, we'll all be a great deal happier :). This has been a paid political announcement from the daughter of a naval lieutenant. Peace is possible, and even imminent--but it starts with us. Peace, love, and Früvous. ~~KatieWow - -----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Own ------------------------------ Date: 14 Nov 1998 04:05:32 GMT From: traugottcm@aol.com (TraugottCM) Subject: Re: Inside jokes (was Re: I dream of Jeannie...)
