There is a map of the campus on the website as well, so you can find out where it is. I would guess that the place would be able to hold 300 people, if they took out the tables and chairs. I don't know what they are doing, though, so It might be less. This is just a rough guess of the size though. According to FDC, the doors open at 8:30, with Jess Klein going on at 9, and Fruvous on at 10. I don't know how accurate this info is, so don't blame me if any of its incorrect. I would definitely get there early to make sure you get in. Moxy Fruvous has played at Alfred University before. I'm sure there will be a lot of people at the show. The show is open to the general public, and it is free to get in. I hope this answers your questions.. Daniel "signature currently under construction... Looking back I sort of wonder if the video was made in a reaction against the popularity, a "don't play us" move. Frankly I'm surprised WEA released it as a single at all. > Methinks that if WEA had released Fly or even It's Too Cold as the first > singles off of that album MM would have more readily played MF. Again I agree. Neither Authors nor Fell In Love got major airplay (I'm willing to concede that they might have had some but I personally never saw them until FruCon) so Much's enthusiasm was already dying. A different single as the first one off the new album might have given things a boost. > >*might* be hope for video airings on Much More Music, before their style gets > >completely written in stone. I know it's a sort of odd suggestion but they do play a much more eclectic mix than Much. > BTW: MM's Spotlight program will create a Spotlight for any band that has five > released videos. Actually, I think those who hate Starbucks hate it for its bad hot chocolate. Come on, let's be honest here. The stuff is poison, POISON, I say! As for the large chain dilemma, I haven't the right to comment--a large chain, one that is closely affiliated with Starbucks (hint!), is keeping me employed right now. ;) Irene ------------------------------ Date: 10 Nov 1998 00:41:12 GMT From: jmskpolk@aol.com (JmsKPolk) Subject: What Genre? hey:-) i'm sure this has been discussed... but me and my friend were talking the other day about what genre Moxy Fruvous falls into. i said alternative but immediatly took that back... i relized.. I believe that the biggest shock to me that night came (with the audible clang my jaw made when it hit the floor) when I realized it was Murray (Murray!!!) that sings the Caridgan's part in the Billie Jian Medly. I've heard it numerous time on various tapes and always wondered if it was Jian or Dave that sang "Love Fool". During the song I made of special point of seeing who sang what. As I went down the line I checked off Dave and Mike an assumed it was Jian's voice...until I saw that he too had his mouth shut and I realized that Murray was crooning the notes!!! If I learned anything this weekend it's that one must NEVER underestimate the guys!!!! (to be brought up again at a later point). on to Buffalo.... I managed to drag my poor car back to Fredonia by 2:30, just enought time to pick up Greg, a recently discovered Fred-fru-head, and get on the road again by 3:15 ish. Initial plans were to pick up some tix for the Sat show and then find some chow before the show. HA!!! We got to the Tralf at 4:00 ish and found that we weren't the first to arrive. So we stayed and chatted (caught up) with Andi (Mom!!!), Kim and Kris. Fru heads started to slowly trickle in around 5ish and I was so happy to see faces I hadn't seen since Fru MIles weekend and start placing faces to all you wonderful people on the NG. Doors opened at 7 and I quicked got my frucard stamped before joining Kim up front stage Jian/Mike. Waltons opened again at 8 and played a more high energy show then the previous nite. Very nice. Our heros graced the stage around 9:30 and played an amazing set full of firsts for me. Started with Message (my second fav opener). I finally got to hear It's too cold, No No Raja, Laika and Nuits de Reve!!!!!!!!! *happy fruvous bouncE!!!!!* hearing KitA and Right Wing Shit was a special bonus...haven't heard them in over a year. Also heard (a bit) of Girl from Iponima (sp?)!!! WOW!!!! New song for me was half as much...I hope I'll be able to more of this one!!! The running gag through the whole nite was the feud between the balcony dogs, standing cows and chickens, and the seated rich..all of whole had their own calls which Jian promted us to call out every now and then. Biggest treat of the night (both nights)...real piano on stage!!!!!!!!! Horseshoes and Boo Time we extra lovly with this!!!! Way to go Dave!!!!! After such a great set I was wondering what they could possibly do for Sat's show....never underestimate the guys!!!! With two fru-virgins in tow, we got to the Tralf around 5ish and hung out again with Andi and crew while trying to finalize the plans for getting us all into a show that 2 of us technically couldn't get into. Thank you again "mom" :-) Sarah Slean was good, but all i could see was the amp in front of me so it kinda took away from the show a bit. *small note* on the way up I mentioned to my friends I really would like to hear extened Sahara and River Valley. When the "heros music" came on I just looked back at them and beamed!!! The set was a bunch of new ones including the premire of "Grudge"...great the way it is...tho i did cheer when they ask if they show up the tempo and add bongos...just to see what it would sound like ;-) On a request they did Cross Border Shopping, even tho Jian seemed a bit skeptical about remember the lyrics, which led to the "Natter Song". Spiderman made an appearance and made a point to stomp on one of the growing number of little fuzzie critter fans there. I think you Pookamon is going need therapy after that one, Kim :-) After a set that I wished would never end they did 3 encores!!!! First was Homeward Bound *sigh* and KoS. HB brought tears to my eyes for the umteenth time that weekend..they do it so beautifully. The other two encores weren't in the set list and I can remember them off hand, but they were also wonderful. After the show, I hung out with fru-heads and met even more Ng people. Hellos go out to Andi, Kim, Chrissy, Mary, Chad, Marie-Claude, Segrid (did i spell that right?), ladyWench, Laurie, and any and all I'm forgetting *sorry*. My newly fruvouslized friends went over and got their tickets signed by three of the guys and Jian came over to thank me for bring some new folks to the show. I know this has been said before, but I gotta say it again...thank you Moxy Fruvous for being so caring and friendly toward your fans. You have no idea how much that is appreciated...well maybe you do, but...*grin* Thank you for all you do to make us frufans feel like we get something incredibly special at every show we go to and for taking the time to greet us afterwards. To use a quote from my favorite musical, RENT: "It's us, baby, who are the lucky ones." Well, if you made it this far and didn't have a stroke over all the typos and spelling mistakes...CONGRATS!!! If i don't see you at Alfred i will most definatly meet you at Fru Con!!!! Amy "It's not forbidden to be what you are.
