I'd rather not go into all the details of the crisis in East Timor, save that it is one of the biggest atrocities of this century. I encourage all of you to do your own research on the web and see what has happened and is happening down there, and how Starbucks plays in all of this. > > Jian, if you have any more information on this, please send it my way (pschwan@bgnet.bgsu.edu) because I'm having trouble finding information on Starbucks. > > I'm pretty sure it's not Chain Stores he's boycotting:) I was doing research on-line for a school paper, and I decided to go look around for stuff about this. Honestly, I had no idea about Starbucks being bad, except for the fact that they seem to be taking over the world by having stores everywhere you go. But I could only find two articles, and it seems like the problem with Starbucks is that they decided to adopt a code that promised to help Guatemalan coffee workers, but then failed to follow it, and now refuse to talk about it. Personally I interpreted this as slightly bitter sarcasm. Only 3 Fruvous videos have ever been played on Much Music, and they refused to play Down From Above. > aren’t about to get on MTV, even if they had a good bout or two on MuchMusic > (the MTV of Canada, which has a cornucopia of genres and a great mix. Much isn't shooting for fans over 16-17 these days, and the videos are all either the boyband, very pop stuff, anything by Puff Daddy or what was formerly alternative rock. No room for Fruvous. There *might* be hope for video airings on Much More Music, before their style gets completely written in stone. I'm still trying to figure out how to request videos for that station though. > So now I ask: if they could make plenty of money selling a tape of Moxy > Fruvous videos in the United States, why do they deny us? The videos were made available last time round through the Fruhead card, and I've heard interviews where the guys have said they've been thinking about making the videos available for sale. Simply hasn't happened yet. my $.02 CDN Fiona - -----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Own ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 09 Nov 1998 18:53:44 GMT From: Alan Sigman Subject: Re: tonight's Baltimore show >I asked: >> >> Does anybody know what time the show starts tonight? >> The Vault's webpage does not offer a clue. >> To answer my own question: Doors open at 8, opening act at 9, Fruvous at 10. ------------------------------ Date: 9 Nov 1998 18:40:12 GMT From: wbsmiles@aol.com (Wbsmiles) Subject: Re: tonight's Baltimore show Hiya Alan....I know the doors open at 8 o'clock....not sure exactly when they will be going on but i know there is an opener....mmm.....Ellen said Amy Rigby maybe?
