I asked my mom if we could go see Dan last night and she said no for exactly this reason, because she knew that most of the people there would be being complete idiots. I am just really surprised that Dan's "fans" were acting like that. I saw him in April at Penn, and it was one of the coolest concerts I have ever been to. The sound system died halfway through the show, so Dan and the band invited everyone to come up and sit on the floor or the stage (I was sitting right next to the drummer) and they played the rest of the set just acoustic, without mics or anything. The whole crowd was absolutely silent so that everyone could hear, except when they played "Jerusalem" and everyone knew the words, so Dan turned it into a sing-along ("we are the messiah...yes, I think you heard us right..."). I just am really upset that the show last night must have been a really bad experience. To Lori, especially, do go see Dan NOT at a bar, because all I can say is that the way people acted wasn't his fault (I know you know that, but..). He is a really sweet person, from talking to him after the Penn show. Unfortunately, I guess very irritating people coming to your shows is an immediate side effect of playing in bars. As for Lori's comment about the Fruhead contingent being extremely well-behaved everywhere they go, especially at big festivals, my dad was talking to one of the security gaurds at Singer-Songwriter weekend, while we were waiting in line to see the guys in the little member area, and the security guy said that he was having such a great day, because he had had "not a problem" and despite the huge amount of people that were there, we were all very polite and well-behaved. Anyway, sorry about rambling here, but after being to a number of concerts where the audience was rude to the performers, I am just getting so tired of it. love Lizzie ------------------------------ Date: 7 Nov 1998 23:14:50 GMT From: bodaceah@aol.com (Bodaceah) Subject: Re: Can we get all four, folks? Does anyone know the Latin word for winter? invierno is Spanish, French, and Portugese for winter. (Which should be reasonably close to winter in Latin, since they are all Latin based languages.)
