In a secial personal project, I have begun to (primarily by ear, but somewhat based on the guitar chords) try to skelelize and then write out the piano chords of "Fly" by ear. Ok, this may sound fairly simple, but A) Though I am a good singer, I am a horrid pianist B) I am only in my second month of formal music theory (does anyone know anything about implied chords?) and C) Just try it- I dare you... So here is my ple-could you guys help me? Anyone with more musicl knowledge, could you maybe give me some inghisght? I am not looking to be able to play it on any grand scale, but just to teach myself enough of the chord progressions to accompany myself while singing. To be honest, this post was partly stirred by the fact that I saw that Jian had been about. Hoever, even though I now know his e-mail address and could mail him, I am respecting his privacy by not bothering him personally. But, Jian, if you do happen to read this, since you wrote the song, maybe you could send some triads my way. thank you, anyway, for an amazingly on-target (for me) piece of music. At any rate, thanks for reading folks, and YAY!! Last night I finally ogt wood, completing my non-boot set of FruMusic.! Playing a guitar part on the piano is sometimes difficult (mind you, not as difficult as the reverse:). If you need just an idea of the chord progression, it shouldn't be too hard (I can email it to you). If you want an actual note-by-note transcription, that'll require a little more time. Let me know what you have in mind. Phil (Aspiring to be Inspiring) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Oct 1998 21:19:17 GMT From: "Demetriou, Melanie" Subject: You like Moxy? I just had an experience I know I will treasure always... I work in a conservative (to say the least) insurance company. My cubicle is decorated liberally in pictures of Alexandra and MF memorabilia, with the center attraction being my signed Live Noise poster. None of my coworkers pay much attention to my stuff ("Moxy who? Never heard of 'em.") or to me, and I like it that way. Until today that is, when one of my acquaintances walked by my desk, did a double-take, backed up, looked at me and said incredulously, "You like *Moxy*??" Color me stunned! I said, "Um, yes," thinking to myself that I must have misheard him. But no, I didn't. Turns out that he has a friend who is a Fruhead, who just started working here! I haven't seen this guy on the ng, and he was too late to buy tickets to the IH. I haven't met him yet, but I'm sure we'll hook up. It's like finding water in the desert!!! Those words will ring in my ears, Frufans, for days, if not weeks: You like *Moxy*?? I sure do! :^) Melanie ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Oct 1998 21:27:14 GMT From: "Adam Hartfield" Subject: Do you know the way to #moxyfruvous la la la la la (was Re: Pisco puns :) ) > Okay, Adam, now my lack of internet savvy shows, but how do we get >on the channel? I'd love to join you for one of these punathons or just >general chat. > >-- Lori First: check out http://www.fruvous.com/irc.html and see if you can abide by the channel rules enumerated there. The rules, for the browserly-challenged: Excessive swearing or swearing personal in nature will not be tolerated. Official languages are English, French and any future languages that Moxy Fruvous sings in. Try and keep the discussion related to Moxy... somehow. Encourage your fellow net-Fruheads to come out and chat when they're online. Colours (in your writing) are to be kept to a minimum. Some users are using UNIX-based or colour-incompatible programs, which cannot read the text and make it look more like a garbled and recovered file originally written in Yiddish. A single line repeated greater than 6 times is flooding, as are repeated PING's, /MSG's, /Notice's and harrassment of channel visitors. Three consecutive kicks from the channel means you are temporarily banned. These bans last 1 wk. No seduction online. Make your advances using more private means. Discriminatory language, attitides and practices will not be tolerated. IE: racism, sexism, homophobism, etc. Get to know your fellow Fruheads... we don't bite. Second: Download an IRC client if you're using a PC or Macintosh. If you're using a Unix box, there may already be an IRC client installed which you can use. I am on a PC and have had nothing but joy from Visual IRC '97 from http://www.virc.com. Third: Connect to the Internet, start your client, and connect to an Undernet server. I generally have the best luck from the newyork.ny.us.undernet.org server, but you may want to connect to a server closer to you. Fourth: Once connected to the server (you'll know you've reached the end of the welcome message when it says /End of MOTD), join channel #moxyfruvous by typing /join #moxyfruvous. The first time you join, please introduce yourself, say where you're from, your name in real life, etc. Also, before you leave, it's polite to give a fifteen-second warning so that people can say bye to you. Fifth: Get ready for the hilarity to ensue, especially if Doug hasn't slept lately. Contrary to popular belief, yes, I *do* leave the channel from time to time. :) - --Adam(H) adamh@javanet.com adam.hartfield@dev.artioslink.com ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V1 #888 ********************************************
