Yes, if the Falcon Ridge people didn't get some comment cards that mentioned Dan being (in their personal opinion - which is what comment cards are for) a little inappropriate for a family festival, I'm sure there would have been a spot on an evening stage for Dan. But they did get some of those comment cards and Dan was not at Falcon Ridge this year.<< I know I'm a little late on the topic, but ... My understanding of what happened is a little different than Chad's. I know that they got comment cards complaining about Dan encouraging the youngsters to sing along with "Missing Link," much like in Philly, but they also got a lot of positive cards asking for him to return. As a result, Anne did invite him back, but only for a late night set, like the ones that Dar and the Nields ended up having, since most of the kids wouldn't be in the audiance then. I thought it was that Dan had a scheduling conflict with a night appearence, and insisted on a daytime slot, which Anne refused. As a result, no Dan at FRFF. It was Dan than then said he was banned, something that Anne has denied on a couple of occassions. It is my understanding that the night time invite holds for FRFF '99. I hope so. - - Harry - -----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Own ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Oct 1998 19:52:22 GMT From: Amy Schrader Subject: Re: Fruv-o-lantern I just really find it hard to believe that Jian wanted his email address >splashed all over the ng On this I have to agree, and I was surprised it wasn't edited out. I don't know about this so much, but I will make a plea that people use some disgression when it comes to forwarding emails. I really didn't read the offending part too well since as soon as I got the jist, I really didn't think it was appropriate for me to know that which was being disclosed. Its like knowing that someone is throwing a surprise party for you, if you're caught unawares you don't have to fake being surprised. > In any case, I can't imagine a more amazing, memorable scenario. Neither could I, unless it were truely a surprise which it may not be. Anyways, I have said my peace on this topic, I can't wait for the IH shows; meet up with my friends, tour around the back 40 of New England and try to keep out of trouble. Tom and Hugo are obviously very excited about what-ever-it-is special event for NoHo. This is truly understandable. They supposedly even had permission by the band to post a personal letter they recieved onto the NG. HOWEVER, now we the newsgroup are faced with a predicament. Someone who most/all of us have come to like/admire/worship because of great artistic talent among other reasons has had their personal e-mail address practaly given to us on a sliver platter. Now, we the fans have two options: a) We can all take advtage of this *golden opportunaty* and all send fan letters and whatnot to this address with the guaratee that, whether he wants to or not, he will have to read them all just to sort through his mailbox. OR b) We can be true fans who respect the object of our admiration and not give this issue a second though, delete/mark read/backspace the addy-in-question and go about talking about other matters like what an awesome few weeks this promises to be frufans. In this way we will have respected the privacy of said person and will be living up to the great fans that we have been labled by Moxy Fruvous themselves. The decision is entirly up to each and everyone of us. I would ask ALL of you (i know you lurkers are out there ^_^) to think about this carefully before acting irrationally. Fan mail and stuff are the reason they have addresses at Moxy HQ (see fruvous.com for addys). Send a letter to this address and, who knows? it may end up being read on stage or becoming "letter of the week" (me thinks back to the MIT show). But please respect their private addresses and keep fan stuff outta there. thanks Amy - gratfully jumping off the soap box. It's way too high up there for my liking... have fun in NoHo!!!!
