Just wanted to pass on a note from the Fruvous boys (at their request). With specific regard to the Northampton shows this week, and maybe some other shows in the future, Fruvous is requesting that there be no photographs or videotaping done during the show (unless specifically sanctioned by Jam Entertainment). Cameras will be allowed inside the venue but only for use before or after the show(s). Of course, Fruvous will most likely come out and say 'hello' at the end of each show, and will be happy to be part of any photographs at that point. It is really important to the guys that you all know that they do not wish to arbitrarily restrict anyone's enjoyment or desires to capture the Noho events. In fact, i know the band is planning very special one-time-only shows for each night, with fans, Fruheads and friends in mind. However, in a venue as intimate as the Iron Horse, it is a real distraction to the performers on stage to have cameras clicking or videos rolling (yes, even without flashes). Imagine being at your place of work or study and having someone a few feet away, flashing and snapping pix while you're trying to concentrate and do your best. Very difficult, to say the least! For the most part, the guys in Fruvous have been more than happy to accommodate most media (personal & commercial) at their shows. It's never been that much of an issue before. Latley, tho, at some shows, it has gotten a little out of hand. When the boys come off stage and complain, that means they did not enjoy themselves. If they do not enjoy themselves, you, the fans, do not get the great show you came to see. It's quite simple really...In the past I have worked for other artists that do not allow any kind of media at their performances, for financial reasons or what have you. Fruvous is not like that. This is an issue of distraction(s). Let them do their thing (distraction-free) and we'll all be better off! We've been talking about extending the "no flashes" rule (which means no flashes EVER!...if you don't know how to use your camera without a flash, don't even try) that already exists at other shows, to say no cameras of any sort in the first 10 rows (at larger venues). Once again, the guys are just trying to do what is best for them to put on what they feel is their best performance without distractions and problems for the band and the audience. In the case of the Iron Horse gigs, band, management and crew all feel that no cameras or videotaping during the show is the best policy. We all hope that everyone will be cool with respecting their desires. The shows coming up should be rockin'. i look forward to seeing you folks somewhere along the line. The no camera rules at Noho will be explained by Toby, at the door, and that's obviously a good thing, given that lots of the people attending neither check nor have access to this newsgroup. Anyway, i thought i'd let those interested know in advance. Thanx a lot, CAL ;) PS - Audiotaping of the shows, with permission from band, crew, or management before the gig, and for *non-commercial* use only, is still cool, as always. Um... are you aware that you just scattered Jian's private e-mail address to the four winds? I apologize if you had permission to do so; it just seems unlikely that he'd want you to, that's all. - --nicole twn - -- "Their toys are smaller than our toys."--NASA Ames co-chair, on the nanotechnology team Visit Nicolopolis! http://wwwcsif.cs.ucdavis.edu/~carlsonn Reply-to address is modified to escape the spammers... sorry for the inconvenience. spam trap: postmaster@localhost admin@localhost abuse@localhost root@localhost ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Oct 1998 17:38:24 GMT From: nicole.the.wonder.nerd.is@ana.ng.at.tmbg.org (Nicole the Wonder Nerd) Subject: Re: Failed conversions?
