I like it! I usually tell folks that it's "Alternative Folk" with theatrical and frivolous fun thrown in. People get that around here. Probably because every type of music has been categorized and sub-categorized here in Nashville. People here are obsessed. :) Matt Kenigson (the frü-nick-less, otherwise Piscean or Neuro or MatRiX or Neuro_MatRiX) Nashville, TN matt@sheergenius.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Oct 1998 12:27:02 GMT From: BBWMinors@aol.com Subject: Double Canadian Whammy In a message dated 98-10-20 04:04:52 EDT, you write: << oh no! tmbg and fruvous both playing clubs 10 minutes away from me (one walking > one subway) on new year's.....what to do????>> Not sure if I'm the only DC-metro type bummed out by this, but Kate and Anna McGarrigle are playing the Birchmere on Nov. 9, same night as Moxy in Baltimore. Looks like I may finally be able to enjoy a New Year's Eve with my 8-year- old daughter ... who gives me the ever-popular pouty I'm-gonna-cry look if I so much as mention the Nov. 9 show at the Vault (NO KIDS ALLOWED!!!! but I was told this extremely politely) since she can't go. I have promised on bended knee to take her to a show where they do allow kids, but unfortunately Wilmington, Del,. the only close location, would mean too much time away from the office in a one-week span. I guess it's time to let grandma and grandpa (conveniently located in midtown Manhattan) that their darling daughter and granddaughter are coming to visit them for New Year's Eve ... here's hoping that the Frucentia will keep us readers posted on when these tix go on sale. Along one other recent board strand, I hadn't read the liner notes to Bargainville that carefully and though I had figured that lyrically "panned" would be the word that made sense, I thought he was saying "banned" both times, especially since, as one poster noted, he emphasizes "formerly" the second time. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Oct 1998 12:33:01 GMT From: "Schwan, Phil" Subject: mp3's You wrote: >Sure, but I wonder: Has anyone made any Früvolicious MP3's? >Matt Kenigson (waiting to be given a worthy nick) >Nashville, TN >matt@sheergenius.com Are you kidding?!? I have every album except Live Noise on MP3 (my cdrom suddenly decided not to let me rip tracks)! I burned them all onto a cd (along with some of my other favorites) and also put WinAMP right on the cd. Running it from the cd keeps it from hitting the hard drive all the time and slowing things down. Now I take Moxy to work with me and don't have to lug 5 cd's around. Hell, I even have MP3's of my own arrangements of Moxy songs. If anyone ever wants one let me know. It's certainly nice to have the Indie GE&H on MP3:) - -Phil ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Oct 1998 08:36:44 -0400 From: Thomas Fazzio Subject: Re: mp3's > >Sure, but I wonder: Has anyone made any Früvolicious MP3's? > Are you kidding?!? I find it easier to just hit play on my computer than turn power on AND hit play on my cd player... also, using my mp3s allows for me to have a certain indie tape song in the mix. ATTN: Music Copyright Advocates: I own all the albums, made the mp3s myself, and don't distribute them. (In this day and age, you've gotta protect yourself.) later, tom. PS - Still plugging to have a weekend gig by Früvous here in Potsdam, NY. (The name of the movie theatre is The Roxy! And the name of the town backwards is MadStop!) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Oct 1998 08:39:36 -0400 From: P Subject: Rochester Request Hi-- I was the one who requested the lyrics to "I Will Hold On". I appreciate all who replied, and didn't realize that the guys might not want them posted... sorry fellas! Now, the reason I wanted to know the lyrics is because I am recently married, but am now going through a tough time right now as my wife isn't sure she wants to be married. We are separated now. It's very complicated and confusing so I will spare the boring and painfull details. Jian may actually remember us from Oswego and Syracuse in July. We were the couple that kept bothering him for an autograph and a few pictures. He was great and quite funny about how annoying we were. My wife snapped a flash photo in his face while he was walking through the crowd. She apologized later for it and gave him a rose... the photo turned out pretty cool by the way ;). Anyway, we are going through some rough times, and I was wondering if Fruvous would be kind enough to dedicate a song to my wife Sherri at the Rochester Harro East show on Nov 5. I will be there... not sure if she will be or not, but it would mean a lot to me. I think "I Will Hold On" pretty much sums up how I feel. It was either that song or "Sad Girl" or "Horseshoes"... "I Will Hold On" seems a lot more heartfelt and romantic. She feels she needs to make a decision about staying married or not, so... I Will Hold On to our marriage. I will wait for her to make that decision. I love her very much. Thanks for writing that song guys... it gives me the strength and encouragement I need right now during this difficult time. So, if any of the guys read this, I would really appreciate the dedication of that song to Sherri from Paul (if it's in the set for the Rochester show). If not, I will totally understand, just thought I would ask. Thanks, and I'm sorry to pour my heart out into this ng-- Paul paulsher@frontiernet.net ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Oct 1998 13:52:38 GMT From: "A.J. I've got it! It's performance art. The art is that we are supposed to be confused and argue about this while Jian gets to chuckle malevolently in the background!
