OK well this got me thinking, because I've had "Bargainville" since it was released onto the streets of Toronto (and likewise with the demo tape) and I recalled back in high school, wondering what they were saying. Looking at the booklet that came with Bargainville, it clearly says "maybe something panned, maybe something formerly banned" which settles one debate. As for "panned" I took it to have almost a double meaning -- not only the common "it got bad reviews" but also the technical term, as in what happens when they put a movie onto TV format (a 3:4 ratio) from Theatre format (which is why they letterbox some "collectors edition" movies, incidentally) Anyways, that's just my two cents, but I know there are a lot of movies that I've seen recently with that odd effect of digitized panning from side to side. Anyone else? Jian, at NKU, put a *huge* stress on both words: "Maybe something... *BANNED*, maybe something formerly *BANNED*." I can make a sound file if anyone wants to hear it. I always thought it was "panned ... banned", but it could go either way. Or it could be both ways. - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Josh Woodward, CheEsy Fru. joshw@mail.bgsu.edu Web Site and Tape List: http://www.dc-adnet.com/joshw/ "You can't prearrange all these hopes that may change on a dime, Just give yourself time." -- Jian, Moxy Fruvous ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 Oct 1998 22:48:18 -0400 From: "^kat^" Subject: Re: New Year's Eve...?
