[jianbabe@aol.com (JianBabe)] Re: that new york winter weather..... ["Thomas E Kiesling" how do you go about explaining Fruvous (without sounding as silly as I >did)? The other day I said some silly stuff to this guy who questioned me about my t-shirt. I ended up rambling and I don't think I quite got my point across.. But, usually I go with the "Rocky-horror vaudeville glam-folk" description from the Live Noise liner notes. That or the one I read on fdc about the musical blender spraying chuncks of jazz, folk etc all over the kitchen. I like that one : ) ~Joni "Like jewels in a crown, the precious stones glittered in the queens round metal hat." Jack Handey "What does hunting prove except that a deer can't pull a trigger?" In addition to inconsistencies of weather patterns, there are inconsistencies over distances within the same pattern. This is most evident on I-90 (alone, without I-80) from Cleveland to Syracuse. Because of the close proximity of the lake to the highway, the highway will be affect by lake effect snow. Even if a weather pattern isn't bringing precipitation, if it has moisture and is blowing over a great lake, it'll snow once it hits the shore. If the wind is going east, Syracuse, Buffalo, and south of Buffalo will get pounded, yet Rochester and Cleveland will remain clear. If the winds are blowing south, Rochester and Cleveland will get pounded, while Buffalo and Syracuse will be clear. It just depends on the where and which direction the winds are blowing. - -- Tom "Some things can be done, as well as others." - --Sam Patch http://www.frontiernet.net/~tkieslin > >The entire northeast has very unpredictable weather, and inconsistent >seasons. Bridget: I live in New York, and although by me (Buffalo) we had a pretty decent winter last year, were sure have the suspicion that this winter is going to be very different. Winter weather here is always very unpredictable....and I agree with everything the last two replies stated.....especially about some of the stretches of the NYS thruways being very boring...how true that is!!! Have a safe trip, Deanna :> ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V1 #774 ********************************************
