My friends and I frequently recite lines from the movie. Take just the other day: Friend (to another girl we were talking with) : I don't feel I need to explain my art to you, Kendra.....that would've worked better if your name were Warren. Me (to friend): And if you had glued quarters to the floor. Just had to share my story. I'm quite open. Anyone who knows me knows that my favourite Fruvous song is "Nuits de Reve" and I have been silently praying that the guys would play it at a show I was actually attending. *grin* They always seem to choose to play it at the ones that I can't make it to. :) Another song I'd like to hear again would be "Follow the Road"...one that I've only ever heard perhaps twice. However, recently I've been listening to the recording of the Port Dover show from last year (?) where the lads opened for themselves and each of them sang a song. Mike did a song which, at that point, had only been sung to his family over the phone (long distance) twice. I believe the title of it is "If Only You Knew (How Much I Think of You)." I've listened to it dozens of times and know it by heart...in fact, the tape I have is nearly worn through. :) I try to sing along with it, but every time I get to the lyric that says, "...I closed my eyes for an hour and a half...tried to make you appear...I swear, in the beauty of the setting sun, you were here...", I tear up so much that I can't sing anymore. Any song that can move me -that- much, has to get my vote to be seen in person -- even over Nuits de Reve. ;) Always, - Maige ;P - -- *************************************** "There is no escape from my magic doors for those who are once brought inside." Lori, there are lots of things that are banned which are readily available nonetheless. :D However that is why I always assumed the line was PANNED--It makes much more sense. But the fact of the matter is that in concert Jian often says the line in such a way as to make it sound like he's saying BANNED. If the illogic in that bothers you then you need to take it up with Jian. :) A.J. - -- _____ _ / ____(_) | | _ ___ ___ _ __ ___ | | | |/ __/ _ \ '__/ _ \ | |____| | (_| __/ | | (_) | \_____|_|\___\___|_| \___/ @wwnet.com ICQ#: 13117113 ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 04 Oct 1998 07:42:23 GMT From: petit_chou@juno.com Subject: Re: Parental advisory? I wondered about the sticker too, until I gave the CD a listen. I mean, in the between-song-banter, many an f-word is uttered, much to Tipper Gore's consternation, I'm sure ("But they seemed like such nice boys..."). I guess it makes sense, but it almost makes me feel like I'm listening to something trashy. Let's be real. Does James Taylor's live collection have a sticker? He says Mother f*cker in "Steamroller Blues!" Is nothing sacred? Hrmph. And how many spooky parents will just brush off an album with a sticker, or a movie with an R rating, or a book that's been (panned or maybe) formerly banned, or who knows what without actually sitting down to listen/watch/read it for him/herself? Lots! And this, my friends, is why I have to sell so many idiot parenting books to the parents of children who "rebel." Of course they're rebelling! They want to see what's outside of the white-trash-trailer-park to which they've been confined! If more parents would just spend some time discussing this stuff with their kids and answering questions, then Jerry Springer wouldn't have a reason for being. And then, o then, we can get some work done. Argh! (Whoo, excuse the rant, there.) Grumpy at warnings in general (but understanding Doug Levy's point and also hoping not to offend anyone who reads parenting books or lives in a trailer park or has big hair), Heather * Moore John Flansburgh sez: "Everybody Conga! We as fans who have participated in the grass roots movement of spreading the word about Fruvous should take satisfaction in knowing that they have grown exponentially. We certainly could not have kept them to ourselves. We have to take the good with the bad a just be happy for their success.
