(Hey, everyone on the *east* coast gets to do it...) SO... everyone coming to the SF show, please send me E-MAIL with the following information: 1: size of group you'll be arriving with 2: for those flying in - anyone need a ride from the airport? 3: would you like to meet up with the grou for dinner? I personally am planning to meet people for dinner - location TBD, but we need to pander to a vegan in the group. I would *love* for everyone to meet up and be silly in advance... I'll even make arrangements, if we can get organized on such short notice! Dinner choices within walking distance of the club: (Slim's is located at 11th & Folsom, and also serves a full menu, so one possibility is just to meet up there at 7:30 and be the first people on to grab several tables together; a dinner ticket is $15.00 (but we should get them in advance) and includes balcony seating) Basil 1175 Folsom Street - Thai restaurant Hamburger Mary's 1528 Folsom Street (at 12th St) Burgers & Such... ambience is high, likelihood of being able to handle a large group is low and it tends to be anti-conversation Jessie's 1256 Folsom (between 8 & 9) - Cajun restaurant highly recommended! - but for a larger group we should really make a reservation... Wa-Ha-Ka! 1489 Folsom (at 11th) - Mexican food very popular, good for groups and cheap, but noisy and occasionally there's a wait at the bar... SO let me know what you think! (Doug, let me know if you think of anything I've missed, and can I count on you to join us for dinner?) ____ \ /__ Caitlin Xantha Hazen \/ / caitlin@wayward-volvo.org \/ http://www.wayward-volvo.org/xanthe.html ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Sep 1998 23:23:35 GMT From: nmwallis@yesic.com Subject: Re: sympatico frufan In article <360935C0.6F53@sympatico.ca>, gaspar.11@sympatico.ca wrote: > Warning: this message relates to Fruvous only in that it is written by a > fan. > > Does anyone else here use Sympatico? Irene, I don't know where you are but if you are in the Toronto area the. best, cheapest server here is yesic.com about $12.75/month. However I have had problems reading the NG too. I have since joined dejanews. It is free and I get about 20 times more posts than before. I am not a computer wizard either but I have been told by those who are that it is a common problem and not all ISP's get all news groups with consistancy. Go back to writing >Cchhaadd posts.' Unabashed I continue...> /me shakes her head I'm sorry to disappoint you, Richard dear, but the song *is* about an elf, if you listen to Dave Matheson. Case in point: the March 8th, 1998 Northampton show. Went something like this (typing this in from memory, so not responsible for the accuracy, though I've listened to this show a LOT): Dave: "My mother has more Puff the Magic Dragon stories about this song..." Jian: "Didn't your father... your father, he sat you down... [explains to audience] His parents live in Kingston, so he doesn't even get to see them very often... So your father, you went there for Thanksgiving, right? And your father sits you down and...." Dave: "And he goes, 'David, your mother has an idea about what that song is about.' [raucous laughter from the audience] But he knew, he knew it was about an elf." :D - -Vika, on a posting spree (hey, this IS spree, for me, these days!)
