Yes, I'm very aware that when people are newbies to a band or singer, and they ask what albums to get by them on a newsgroup, they always get the response "BUY ALL OF THEM NOW!!!!" Well I'm pretty short of funds right now, and since I'm a new Moxy fan, I'd be collecting these albums rather slowly. And with the apparent USA releases of "Wood" and "The B Album" in October, I'd have 4 choices to go through, along with a live album! Anyway, which STUDIO release (I'd definitely get the live album later) is the best one to start with? That "Michigan Militia" song sounds really cool, as do "Fly" and "Video Bargainville," and all are from different albums and have considerably different styles. So which album is the best to start with, the easiest to get into? Keep in mind I'll most likely end up getting all of them, but which should come FIRST? - -- - ---------------------------------------------- Rich Bunnell or "Metal Man," whichever sounds more insane - - "This is your life and you do what you want to do, just don't hurt nobody, unless they ask you" -XTC - - "Do you have a special something you take to bed with you? As most of us started with Bargainville, their first album, I'm sure most people will recommend you start with that first. :) I'd tend to agree -- Bargainville is very approachable, bouncy, and fun. Metal Man, let me tell you a little story... I was first turned on to MF by a student teacher in my math class in high school. He was a young Canadian (anyone know Alec McTavish?), and he and I swapped music all the time - broadening horizons and all that. Well, he first played for me the indie release. I was in love. The only album which I could then obtain was Bargainville. Added bonus? It contained many of the songs from the indie release to which I had become attached. Good stuff. I am now in the process of owning all the albums (c'mon Bottom Line!), and while Live Noise is great stuff and I push it for all it's worth, you requested a studio album and I will happily tell you that Bargainville is the way to go. I would not lie to a fellow XTC fan (McTavish and I would trade XTC stuff often). Welcome, bro. Half the time I actually remember what the thread is generally about, but since our threads often stray off the subject lines, it's very VERY hard to discern what's being talked about. I know that AOL, for example, doesn't automatically quote the original e-mail in follow-up posts (don't know if that is in the settings, either). In that case, please write another sentence that says something like "Re: going to Rochester". Or something. Okee? Rich, I wouldn't recommend starting with either _Wood_ or _B_, it's true that you'll inevitably end up with all of them and I would guess sooner rather than later, but you should go ahead now with _Live Noise_ (especially if if you've not actully seen them live) because it will give you a good mixture of all points on the Fruvous musical spectrum. _Wood_ is a great CD, actually my favorite, but it doesn't have any of the more quirky tracks that tend to get a lot of airplay. _B_ is a collection of some of the more satirical stuff and is a lot of fun. _Live Noise_ will give you a taste of both, plus the banter which is really what makes Fruvous "Fruvous". Nancy The quiet Frufan who's 4 year old knows all the words to KOS... When the NPR interview came on last month we were riding in the car and she started yelling, "It's Moxy Fupus Mommy!
