Hmph. Guess I just don't learn. Apparently Fruvous is better-equipped than some groups I know. My mother and I once went out and bought, only partially as a joke, an entire box of Sharpies for the Trenchcoats (a local a cappella group), who NEVER seem to have pens... and even after this, they borrowed ours. m-pact has also come into possession of several of our pens, purchased for them or otherwise -- but if the songwriting muse strikes Matthew over lunch and he needs a pen, he can have it. ;) Just beware if you lend someone a pen and DO get it back. One musician who shall remain nameless once returned a pen to me with rings of toothmarks chomped around it -- this is what happens when your hands are full with things to autograph and you have to pull off the cap in whatever way possible. - -- jenn, with her stash of autograph pens close at hand (don't forget silver ink in case they have to sign something black! :) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 Sep 1998 18:45:11 -0400 From: parrotfood@mindless.com Subject: WANTED: Central Ohio Fruheads Hi yall, Anyone headed to the show at Ludlows October 14 drop me an email. In Science Fiction we discussed his linguistic theories in relation to one of the novels we were studying. In Honours Critical Practice we talked about "The Noam Chomsky Lectures", a play by.. 2 canadians I forget the names of, which lead to a discussion of "Manufacturing Consent". "Manufacturing Consent" is one of Noam Chomsky's works dealing with the politics/money behind journalism. (to put it reallly simply) That side of Chomsky keeps coming up in English classes all OVER the place now, and I wasn't at all surprised that Jian, with his politics, knew of and has probably read Noam Chomsky. So now i have, and it has come to my attention I have a really bad temper. Anyway, did anyone else take offense to that article? Or am I just being oversensitive? What worried me was, what if that stupid lady who wrote the article got her ideas from things Dave said to her? That hurt my feelings. I know I certainly don't have to justify myself to all of you guys, but I know I have a life, I have school, I'm the coeditor of the Literary Magazine at my school, I act in and direct plays at my community theater and I volunteer at a retirement community, for crying out loud! Ok, excuse the self affirmation (I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, people like me....... : ) But anyway, what bothered me most is that woman (or whoever she got the idea from) had the nerve to generalize that all fruheads were supporting F&FFC because they have nothing better to do then back up the band they're obsessed with. I have been staunchly pro-choice since a long before I even knew who Fruvous was, and if my favorite band is doing a benefit fora cause I support, in my favorite city, than I will be there! Ok, I am gonna stop my preachin' thanks for again being here when I needed to blow off steam (Like you had a choice : ) ~Joni ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V1 #644 ********************************************
